Your'e moving where?

I have been telling our close friends and family for years that we were moving to STJ. They still can't believe we are leaving next month. I love the reaction from people when we tell them, they are usually shocked. They want to know why, because we love it there. They ask what we are gonna do for work, we will figure something out. They ask if we are worried about the little guy growing up on a small island, not at all. Most people wish they had done something like this and are really happy for us.

My mother and father are in their late seventies. My mom is having an easier time with it than my father. He thinks we are completely nuts. My mother keeps saying to my Dad "What if your grandparents told your parents they couldn't leave Portugal to go to America back in 1940?" You have to let them do this. Although, she does insist that after two weeks we will be homesick and want to come home. I'm not too sure about that.

We are living on the edge for the first times in our lives. We are doing something that we want to do. You hear horror stories all the time of perfectly healthy people passing away during the prime of their lives. We can't see the point of waiting until we are too old to enjoy ourselves to take the time to do the things we love to do. In our case, we love the beach, we love boating, we love spending time with our friends and family. It is pretty simple.

I asked my son yesterday "On a scale of 1-10, 1 being not very excited to ten being really, really excited to move to STJ, How excited are you?" His answer was 100! That was my answer too!!
