I found this on a different message board. Following is the response I received from someone at the Virgin Islands National park website when I asked the question there: Please note that all park facilities will be closed if there is a shutdown. Whereas open spaces cannot physically be closed off, t...

We always wear our fins regardless of conditions. They've gotten us out of some nasty currents on more than one occasion and they allow us to really relax and enjoy our time snorkeling.

And here's a link if you want to look at months farther in the future.

The link will take you to the St. Thomas cruise ship schedule for July since that's when I'm going to St. John, but you can choose any port or any ship for the rest of the year.

From a business standpoint, if I were Anthony, I would have created the additional forums a long time ago. There's no doubt that this forum is in a league of its own when it comes to up to date and useful information regarding STJ, and this information is dispensed in a kind and generous manner rare...

I have a private charter with Stormy Petrol/Pirates Penny in July and their current rate is $135 per person. They take 10 in one of their boats and 12 in the other. To have a private charter it's either $1350 or $1620 depending on which boat you need.

Personally, I like to take the "big" excursion early in a trip, especially if I have newbies with me, because it really gives them a bigger picture of what the archipelago has to offer than one gets while riding around the north shore in a dinghy. Also, taking the excursion first will give...

Another vote for Olympus. I have the 8010 and have abused the heck out of it and never had a problem. Just make sure it's bone dry before opening it up for any reason.

I used SPG points back in May for five nights at the Westin and I booked about five months in advance. If I remember correctly rooms for points were available up until the day of due to the fact that the property wasn't sold out, but of course it will depend on when you go. Just out of curiosity I t...

I have used many of the different charter companies over the years and for a medium size group I've found Pirates Penny / Stormy Petrol to be the best value. Although both boats can hold 16 passengers they only take 12 on one of the boats and 10 on the other. They charge $135 per person so you could...

Another vote for Bonine. It's cheap and effective. While I don't suffer from motion sickness, my wife and several of my friends do and Bonine has always worked well for them. My wife takes Bonine when she wakes up every morning we're in the Virgin Islands regardless of what we have planned for the d...

We did the Calypso catamaran sail to JVD in May and loved it. We made a snorkel stop at one of the cays on the way over and saw a couple of turtles as well as all kinds of other cool stuff. We then proceeded to Great Habour to clear in but decided as a group that we'd pass on Foxy's and head straigh...
