Westin question

Post by jdw »

For those of you that have stayed at the Westin and used your Starwood points, do you remember how far in advance you had to book your stay? Is it like Delta and you have to call 300+ days in advance to use your SkyMiles? Or can you wait until a couple of months out to book it?

Thanks.

I used SPG points back in May for five nights at the Westin and I booked about five months in advance.

If I remember correctly rooms for points were available up until the day of due to the fact that the property wasn't sold out, but of course it will depend on when you go.

Just out of curiosity I tried to book with points for this coming weekend and wasn't able to but I was for the following weekend, so even during high season it doesn't seem like it's that hard to find a room for points on relatively short notice.

We always book really far in advance- 8-12 months-and make it a partial points, partial pay reservation depending on how many points we have at the time (ie wee may book 3 nights in points, and the ret as a paid reso). We usually continue to convert the reservation to points as we earn them (one night at a time) all the way up until a month or so out. We are always able to use the points. Good luck!

I have booked in as little as a week in advance. It was not high season. I think it just depends on availability.
