As of a week ago, they were absent at Waterlemon and Trunk, but horrible at Cinnamon. Down by the surf it's not that bad, but get a few feet away and the breeze disappears and they'll be on you. They were bad on the Reef Bay Trail as well. I used 25% Deet and left STJ with 2 bites. Others in my grou...

Shipping Update

I searched for info on how long it would take to ship from the states, and it seemed like many of the messages were "worst case" scenarios. Thought I'd throw out that 2 of our group shipped boxes down, both flat-rate, Priority Mail boxes (the BEST way to ship, in my opinion). We each shipp...

104.9 the Mongoose said there is tropical wave quite a bit away, that "may figure into the weather toward the middle of next week" and produce some rain.

C'est la vie, hopefully they still serve wet patrons at Woody's and the Beach Bar!

Not too happy to hear that. Can someone elaborate on what that could mean?

Jim: my facebook entry yesterday was "going to be a loooooooooooooong week." We leave Friday afternoon, so I can completely sympathize. My cure will be to quadruple-check my checklists and check the forum quite often.

Safe Travels,

Better Bug Spray

I know all about DEET levels and to stay away from the sunscreen/repellent dual-capacity products, but is there a particular bug spray that you have found to be more effective in STJ's climate? All other things being equal, is there a good spray that smells tropical? Somehow the pine-fresh scent of ...

Gromit, I love your countdown because I'm 9 days in front of you and I get to look at your countdown and realize I don't even have to go that long!

"Less than 3 weeks" sounds so close I can hear the water rolling up the sand...

Agree they are a top-notch boat. Very laid back and they make you feel comfortable right off the bat. We'd be going out with them this June, except they do head north to Maine during the summer.

Coco Lopez cost

Anyone know how much Coco Lopez runs on island? We'll be mixing drinks at the villa, and I can see Coco Lopez being either cheaper than it is stateside because so much more is used, or a lot more expensive because it would be in high demand. If it's expensive, does anyone know if it's cheaper at Cos...

I'm flying Spirit in 5 weeks out of O'Hare, through Ft. Lauderdale. Tickets were incredibly cheap. We spent the $5 or $15 per ticket to pick our seats, but we're all carrying on, so the tickets were still cheap after paying for the seat selection. There are a few other strings discussing Spirit if y...

Day sail, leaving Cruz Bay and returning that night. Once the 7th person told me the Caves were nothing special, I wrote them off. Other good advice I received was that the Indians won't be that great if the sea is rough. However, the consensus seems to be that the Indians are a top-shelf snorkel. I...

Norman & Willy T or Jost?

I've got to decide whether my group will sail to the Indians-Caves-Willy T, or Jost. I'm under the impression from my charter contact that the snorkeling on the Norman trip is far superior, while the Jost trip is mainly geared toward the party atmosphere of White Bay. What about asking the boat to h...

I'm intrigued by Shipwreck and want to know more. I've heard several people on here sing its praises. As with any restaurant, I've also seen a number of people say they were disappointed. Particularly, I remember a string of posts about a guy who was supposedly hanging around bothering customers. If...
