My husband and I stayed at Wings Over Water for 10 days and it was very hard to leave. As you near the villa you will come to a "leap of faith" driveway. As you drive down towards the house you begin to see the top portion of the villa and the sea in the background. The villa is set up on the southwest tip of Bovocoap Point. As you walk down towards the main part of the villa you immediately here the sounds of the ocean. The villa is divided into 3 sections. There is a main pod, followed by two separate bedroom pods. The two bedrooms are almost identical with king size beds and outdoor showers with a full bath and balcony. The bedroom on the south end is considered the master bedroom which also has a bathtub on the balcony near the outdoor shower area.
The main pod has a spacious living and dining area with a fully stocked kitchen. All rooms (including both bedrooms) have AC, however it is not needed since you can open all the doors and feel the ocean breeze throughout the rooms. There is a bathroom off the kitchen area that also has an outdoor shower. The outdoor shower faces the back portion of the property, while the two outdoor showers off the bedrooms face towards the sea. The house also has a fully functional washer/dryer, large screen tv, ipod ready with outdoor speakers and a gas grill.
In the evening lights will light up all of the surroundings, including the pool. The lights are designed to cast light downward, allowing one to see all the stars in the sky without difficulty. Outside the main area, is a large covered lounging area where you can relax and listen to the waves. There are stairs that lead down to the grass covered front portion of the property. This area has very comfortable adirondack style chairs and a 2 person lounging chair. There are additional stairs that lead you down the rocky bluff where you will find a bench. From there you can see the waves crashing and the occasional curious iguanas. The pool sized perfectly for taking a dip to cool off or just lay in it using one of the floats provided. Beach towels, beach chairs, and coolers are provided for when one wants to break away and visit one of the beautiful beaches St. John has to offer.
Wings Over Water was designed with elegance and full comfort in mind. The villa is perfect for a couple spending their honeymoon or celebrating an anniversary. It is also designed to allow 2 couples to stay at the same time while having separate private sleeping areas.
The location is ideal since it is very convenient drive to Cruz Bay and the North Shore beaches. While you are at Wings Over Water, it feels as though you are miles away from everything. Wings Over Water is truly a magical place and indeed a favorite for my husband and I. I highly recommend this villa as we will be returning next year.
