Our stay at Waterlemon villa 1/23/14 to 2/1/14 was everything we hoped for and more.
The road in to the villa, paved part of the way and not too bumpy, is pretty easy by St. John standards. The driveway has room for several vehicles and room to turn around. You park about 12 feet from the front door and enter into the main level with a great room, kitchen, dining area, twin bedroom and a full bath(indoor shower). There is only one step from the driveway into the house.
The great room furnishings are comfortable and high quality as are those on the screened upper deck and open lower patio. The outside furniture cushions are the quick dry sunbrella type fabric, and the cushions throughout the house are spotless and look new. The beds are comfy, linens top quality, and everything is in great condition. All three bathrooms are large and very nicely done, and we loved the outdoor showers. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. I am very fussy and don't like the 'worn and dingy' feeling you get at some villas..none of that here, everything was fresh, crisp and clean.
Though I loved the look of the villa, I was hesitant to book a villa with no a/c. The owner, Ellen Sandler, assured me that the breezes would keep us cool, and that was definitely the case; a long sleeved tee-shirt was needed a few evenings. The constant breezes kept any bugs away, and we were comfortable during the day at the pool or on the screened upper deck or open lower deck.
The pool gets sun at this time of year from about 9:30 am until 2:30, and was a bit cool but definitely usable. The entire pool area is not completely private, but there is a section that cannot be seen from any other houses and could be clothing optional. There is an outside shower near the pool for rinsing off sand from the beach. The overall design of this villa was so well thought out, I am not sure it could be improved.
Ellen answered my original email inquiry right away, got in touch by phone, and the booking process was easy. A check for a security deposit is required, which was mailed to us the day after our departure. Marc Miller, the property manager, met us in Coral Bay for the short drive to the villa and was available if we had any issues, which we did not, by the way. All in all, an 11 on a scale of 1-10.
