If I had only one superlative to describe Skyflower and our sublime 10 days there over the 2015 Thanksgiving holiday week it would be "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"!! All other words just cannot describe the setting and view from Skyflower - and as several other reviewers have said the pictures do not do that view or the home (witnessed in person) justice. It really is that amazing! Marc Miller, Skyflower's property manager, was so very easy to work with, answering any questions/concerns we had, keeping in contact and was just a super nice guy to meet and deal with and we would book with him again. After we arrived and picked up our jeep (Bougainvillea Jeep rental - easy to work with and great vehicles) Marc met us in Coral Bay and took us up, up, up to Skyflower. "WOW" "WOW" "WOW" - the only words we could utter as we stepped through the front door and got our first glimpse of all of Coral Bay from aloft, the East End, Carolina Mountain, the BVIs (almost all of them) including Tortola, Jost VanDyke, Sandy Spit, Norman, Peter, Cooper, even Virgin Gorda in the distance! I texted my daughter pictures of the view and at 1000 feet above sea level, she said it looked like we were flying/hovering over the island! She said the pictures almost looked fake!
We have been coming to St. John since 2001 and though we have rented in several other areas of St. John we tend to stay on the Coral Bay side most of our visits. We have always liked where we have stayed as each home has had its own charm and flavor as well as amenities. To say that Skyflower is the nicest and most well furnished home of the multiple homes we have stayed in is an understatement! The house is immaculately kept, very comfortable furnishings, fantastic cook's kitchen with every gadget and utensil to prepare a gourmet meal (including an excellent selection of spices), very nice dishes and glassware. The main living area (great room) and the master bedroom are in 2 separate buildings. The great room houses the kitchen; a bathroom and large seating area with satellite TV, as well as wifi - which worked most of the time except a few times when some strong winds and heavy rain blew over Bordeaux Mountain. The master bedroom has a very comfortable king sized bed, nice linens, lots of shelves and a large dresser to store your clothing, etc., plus a large outdoor shower off the bathroom, with a door that opens to that endlessly amazing view! Any meals that we cooked at the house (a number of them) we enjoyed at the table on the deck with a perfect cooling breeze and again the amazing view! There are multiple ceiling fans throughout both buildings and in our opinion, absolutely no need for a/c as the breezes up there provide constant cooling from nature! In fact so much so, that I had to put a light sweat shirt and socks on at night!! Every aspect of this house was so very thoughtfully and tastefully planned and set out. The owners really have thought of every detail - from the artwork on the walls to the carved door frames throughout the house and tiles in each of the bathrooms, to providing a book with tips for enjoying Skyflower and St John/Coral Bay as well as a book with restaurant menus, several different sized coolers, comfy beach chairs and even binoculars - which we used on at least one occasion to view a huge private yacht which was moored for a number of days in Hansen Bay! The hot-tub provided multiple nights of relaxed star gazing (a blanket of stars and numerous shooting stars) and watching the moonrise. It was so very peaceful up at Skyflower and we enjoyed the serenades of the tree frogs, crickets and other nocturnal choruses both day and night. The mornings greeted us with beautiful sunrises from our bed and from the decks and again that amazing view which changed constantly with the time of day, slant of sun and floating clouds. We were lucky to literally have a bird's eye view of the annual Coral Bay Thanksgiving weekend regatta and enjoyed watching the boats race each other and the wind. It was really a pleasure returning to Skyflower everyday from whatever activity we did and each time we walked out to that view saying "Wow" again! We stayed in the upper level of the house, as the owners were in Maine at the time, but we did glimpse the downstairs suite and it looked beautiful and as well furnished as the main level! We had a friend who was originally going to join us and would have stayed in the suite and let me just say, she would not have been disappointed at all - in fact it was nicer than some of the other homes we have rented over the years! The downstairs shower (off the suite) was gorgeous too! An added bonus was a laundry room on the lower level, where we did a load of wash and towels.
We would rent Skyflower again in a heartbeat and HIGHLY recommend Skyflower to anyone who is looking for an exceptional home, comfort and ultimate relaxation! And - yes - the most breathtakingly spectacular views on St. John!!!!!!
