Poi Pu is an older home (1970's) overlooking salt pond in Chocolate Hole. Convenient location, very basic and rustic, with older island charm. It has 2 bedrooms downstairs and an open loft bedroom upstairs, and nice, well furnished wrap around decks on three sides. There is a tiny stone pool on the lower level that we did not use, but could be used for dipping. The furniture and appliances are clean but somewhat worn, with lots of squeaks and creaks. Linens and bedding are new, bright and clean. The open outdoor stone shower is nice and adjacent to two small half baths on either side. We had good weather, no bugs and a great breeze, but if the house needed to be closed up in case of rain or bugs (no screens on most doors), it would be very dark as the doors are the old wooden kind with no windows. Unfortunately the biggest downfall for us, through no fault of the owners, is that the main center view is directly over the now-abandoned Pond Bay development, so it is all brown, torn up construction work. Very unfortunate, we hope it gets fixed someday. Although not fancy, this home is a good value for a reasonable price.
