Gallows Point Resort is a relaxing, elegant, condo-style resort located just up the hill from downtown Cruz Bay. Walking in to town for shopping and dining takes less than five minutes! There is parking for your rental jeep on site, and one of the island's best restaurants, Zozos, is also located on property.
We rented an ocean upper unit. The upper units are all two-story accommodations. The main level consists of a living/dining space, a galley-style kitchen, a full bath and deck, as well as storage closests. A flight of stairs brings you up to the loft-style bedroom and a half bath, plus an addtional large closet. The units are all fully air-conditioned, or you can open the many louvers on all of the doors and windows and let the Caribbean breezes flow through.
Our unit, like most of the units at Gallows, had been recently renovated and featured granite countertops and stainless appliances in the kitchen, and a beautifully tiled bath. There were flat-screen TVs in the living space and bedroom (we never used them). The smallish deck (plenty large for two) featured beautiful ocean views out to St. Thomas and unobstructed sunsets. There are patio chairs, ottomans, and a small table on the deck--perfect for breakfast al fresco. Stargazing was incredible in the evenings.
We have rented a harbour upper unit at Gallows in the past, and those views are great too--into town--great for watching boating activity and the lights of Cruz Bay at night,
Gallows' beach is rocky, but the resort has constructed a ramp that you can use to access the snorkeling in front of the resort and over in Frank Bay. There is a decent amount of coral and fish to be found here. I have even spotted turtles on occasion! If you don't want to snorkel, Gallows has a very nice pool and hot tub area, with tables, umbrellas, and loungers for your use.
There is a small shop on property where you can rent snorkel gear, book excursions, and buy food and beverage for your unit. The resort gives you a complimentary gallon of water and bottle of rum on check in. the bath is stocked with Aveda products. Beach chairs, towels, and coolers are all provided for your use, and there is a shared grilling area for those evenings when you want to cook dinner in. Laundry facilities are on site as well. The resort has free wifi, daily maid service, and a friendly, helpful staff.
The grounds at Gallows are incredibly lush, filled with all sorts of plants and flowers. Iguanas, bananaquits, and hummingbirds are present in great numbers. It is a very quiet place, very relaxing, very beautiful. This was my fifth stay at Gallows Point, and I am sure my husband and I will be back again!
