St. John Dreaming

Well folks it's exactly 32F in Northern VA with light snow falling, 93% humidity and winds out of the north at 6 mph. The Federal Govt shut down less than an hour ago and an ice storm is expected overnight. And all I can think about is my toes in the soft, silky sand of Maho Bay; a good burger, a co...

Ben's in the orange bottle

Ben's in the little orange bottle always works for us. (LLBean, and various outdoor stores). A little goes a long way. But I also bring AfterBite along just in case we do get bitten or benadryl cream. It's nice to have something for relief and that stuff can get expensive on island-- they know you'r...

Delta fares out of ATL usually drop in March

Depending on when you need to fly, if you can wait until March, Delta's fare offerings are usually the lowest in March. I was just looking at those fare algorithm sites a couple of weeks ago and that was what I found. I would hang tight for another couple of weeks and I think you'll be surprised.

To ship or not to ship... that is the question

My basic rule of thumb for shipping is this- If there is something that you cannot live without that would cost you more than the cost of the item on the mainland plus shipping, then ship. We once traveled with a REALLY picky eater and they shipped down his food in advance. Bottom line he was happy....

Ahh, I feel the embrace of my STJ family again. I feel the love! Jan & George, so glad to see you are both doing so well. We'd love to hook up with any and all in December. We're going solo this year sans family or friends and are open to dinners, drinks etc. From the lunar calendar it looks lik...

More or less buggy in December?

Greetings to all! It's been a while since I've posted but I see that the usual suspects are still around, which is fantastic! We took a year off from visiting STJ and spent vacation time in Florence, Italy and Disney World in 2006. But, as you all can attest, that STJ itch just doesn't ever seem to ...
