Sylvia's Clean Plate is a favorite of mine. Sylvia makes amazing Jamaican food with some great spices. Her jerk shrimp is one of my favorites as well as goat stew. She is right beside the Donkey Diner in Sputnik's (Coral Bay). She's about as authentic as you can get.

Maybe they have made some changes since I was there. I love spicey food - but didnt find it spicey at the time. I will have to go back and give it another try possibly this week. I don't like any St John business having troubles.

I found the same thing with Fatty Crab. I went there in january for the first time to watch Joe Krown (He is AMAZING) and found the food overpriced and mediocre. Hopefully, they work things out.

The National Park is well aware of Caneel's current managements' stance on allowing access. It is the DPNR that you would need to contact. Unfortunately, things are a little different here on St. John, and you might find yourself unwillingly "escorted" off the property.

What part of the island are you staying on? I would highly recommend Captain Truman at V.I. FlyAwayCharters if you are staying in Coral Bay.
