Just one beach?

Post by jp »

Our group is returning to STJ in 11 days for our second visit. Last year we went to Maho, Francis and Hansen (our favs) and Trunk and Hawksnest. Also snorkeled Waterlemon.

We need sand, some shade and a restroom (no matter how primitive) for the ladies. Leaning to Salt Pond or Little Lameshur for a new experience. Staying nearer to Coral Bay on Mamey Peak.

What beach would you choose and why? Open to any and all suggestions.

thanks, jp

Salt Pond and Lameshur both good choices!! No crowds and restrooms at both!

By Hansen Bay I assume you mean Vie's, right?

We did Great Lameshur this year. Stoney beach, but nice snorkeling.

On Mamey Peak you will be closest to Maho and Francis than any of the Coral Bay side beaches, but I agree it is always good to try a new beach :)

Aw, come on, Pia! I've been in them and Skinny's has been worse than either of them, from a pungent point of view!

Leinster Bay and walk to Waterlemon should definitely be on your list. As far as bathrooms, the start of the walk around Leinster has bathrooms. After that, you're on your own until you walk back out. Great snorkeling around Waterlemon. Just when you think you've walked far enough, beutiful open bay, sandy beach (I recommend a swim at this point), walk around a little further and Waterlemon direcly in front of you. Lots of big rocks to leave your gear on and rockhy entrance into water. Swimming over over to Waterlemon a nice paddle over 25 feet of deeper water. Snorkle from left to right around Waterlemon. Fabulous underwater. Enjoy!

Saltpond has very limited shade, if that is a main requirement. Lameshur is rocky with alot of those "prickley" things.

I would stick with Leinster or Vie's.

Just my opinion.

I know you said your staying in Coral Bay but if you haven't tried Salomon or Honeymoon I would really like to suggest it. Plus Jumbie is not too bad either. :D
