The guest house at Great Expectations looks very nice, especially if you get the upstairs apartment. Great Expectations is in a very good neighborhood too. Not sure if you've been to St. John before and have a preference between Cruz Bay/Coral Bay, but the Great Expectations location would be more convenient to a greater number of restaurants/bars if that is important to you. Adeste looks wonderful, too, if its available, and is larger. Honestly, a lot of the places you have mentioned are good alternatives, so I'm sure you'll have a wonderful trip.

Erika, now you just have to choose between the two sides of the island. Coral Bay (where Seabiscuit appears to be) is on the quieter side of the island, with no real defined "town" area. It's beautiful down there, but it will take you little bit to get to Cruz Bay. The star villa is right near Cruz Bay, so you can walk into town. You get "more" villa for your $$ out in Coral Bay, but some people love the convenience of being near town.

That's really a matter of personal preference. If you both like to drink and don't want to worry about driving home, stay at Starlit Escape. If that is not an issue for you, then you just have to decide which area you think you'd prefer.

You really can't go wrong.

What about Orchid Court? It's a one bedroom, and you have the beautiful North Shore views. Also, you are in a wonderful area, Catherineburg. I think that it would be in your price range.

Hey alw1977 - Starlit Escape is also in Coral Bay - in the valley behind Love City :)

Oops... I got it confused with the various "Star Villas" owned by the couple in Cruz Bay.

My bad. Ignore my earlier post.

Erika, I’ll offer up yet another suggestion for you. Coconut Hill cottage is available on your dates, is within your price range, has a small pool, and is private. We will be there for the first time May 17-24. Friends of ours rented it in December and loved it, especially for the views.

It is located in the Coral Bay area, high up Rt 108.

ugh. iraq!

Post by erika9252 »

i posted on the other topic as well, but just in case some of you are only following this one...

due to a terrible event involving my boyfriend's dear friend in iraq i have been unable to speak with him about further options. i have decided to just go with starlit seeing as Angie and Jared have so graciously held the villa for us all this time and i am worn out from inquiries and such. everyone has been so gracious in their assistance and i truly appreciate it. if only eric and i could contact each other more frequently to discuss the options as a couple perhaps we would have had a little more room to dig around on st.john. thank you all so much for everything. this forum has meant more to me than i could have ever hoped for. this war has not however and i cannot wait for my soldier to be home safe with me in st.john. especially in light of the current situation there in iraq. only 6 weeks and he'll be 100% safe and i cannot wait.

once again thank you all for your help, hopefully we will have more travel time on our next trip to plan in advance. i really don't know how i would've made it without the help from all of you. thank you from the bottom of my heart.

PS please keep us both in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time in our lives.

Erika, you will have a terrific time on St. John. I can imagine how you feel--my brother in law is almost halfway through his second tour over there and I worry about him every day. In addition to my sister, he has two little kids waiting for him to come home.

You picked a great spot to relax and reconnect. I wish you a wonderful trip.

Erika,

You will have a wonderful time! Starlit Escape will work out great for you; Angie and Jared will make sure that you have everything that you need. You will feel your tension melt as soon as you step off the ferry! Relax and have a terrific time with your very special guy.

Erika, we're considering booking this place for May, too, I think right after you. What are your dates? How did you find out the cottage was recently remodeled? Do you happen to know if the pool has a view? How has the owner been to work with so far?

Thanks for the info, and I hope you have a great trip!

My prayers go out to you, your boyfriend and his fellow soldiers. Please let him know how much his sacrifice is recognized and appreciated. I hope you have an incredible time together. Enjoy!
