Serviceman on leave from Iraq needs villa

Post by Pia »

OK guy's let's see if we can help.

A new poster Erika9252 (hope you don't mind me posting a new topic for you but I didn't know if your post would attract the attention I feel it deserves :) ) is looking for a villa for herself and her boyfriend who will be on leave from Iraq and she is having trouble finding the "perfect" one.

Dates 4-11 May - pool, a/c at least in the bedrooms, private, clean, cute, romantic, quiet, under $2500.00 per week.

Lets see from first hand experience what we can find - her post is below :)

Thanks everyone

Wish I was a villa owner who had that week open - they would get it for free or for cost of utilities and housekeeping.

A quick search of vivacations turns up a bunch of open houses in your range with pool and ac:

this one is only $125 over your budget:

this one is $2400:

this one is cute and $2500:

coral bay side, and it has ac and a pool at $2,200

Try Caribbean Villas also, they rep a bunch of properties.
It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.

We stayed at Morgan Point Villa overlooking Great Cruz Bay several years ago. We loved the active view watching the boats go in and out of the bay and the Westin activity. It was next to Blue Tang (owned by Frank of "News of St. John". I do not know the current condition of the interior, someone else may be able to chime in. It is a great deal at $1750 per week and is rented by Carefree Getaways. It may be worth a call to check out. It has pool, hot tub, A/c in bedrooms and great room.

Best wishes, and I will keep thinking and looking for other alternatives.

I think I posted this link before. This is a great program for the Military and government employees. You don't have to federal to take advantage, it could be local gov't as well.

I have seen listing on St. John before on this site.

I would recommend the villa we love but, we're going to be there during that time...

Definitely some very interesting suggestions so far. Hopefully something will work out for them.

Have not seen these but they look nice :) I would call the agency though and ask if the pool area/home can be viewed by any other villa (I know privacy is a requirement  ) also don't be afraid to ask if there maybe a discount available - some agencies do discount (and it would not hurt to let them know your boyfriend is on leave from Iraq - if I owned a villa I would let you guy's stay for free :) )

Hi Erika! I felt I should throw in some help here since we are practically neighbors. Here are a few I saw that look promising and appear to be open for your dates:

Rhumb Runners – a/c, private Coral Bay location, good view, pool, $2200: http://www.vrbo.com/139522

Sea Biscuit – a/c, Coral Bay, pool, hot tub, $2135: http://www.windspree.com/homes/seabiscuit/

Orchid Court Tennis Cottage – great Northshore location above Cinnamon Bay, a/c, hot tub, and tennis court, $1680: http://www.orchidcourt.biz/

Coconut Hill Cottage – a/c, nice view, pool, Coral Bay, $1575 http://www.vrbo.com/115186

Large villa, a/c, pool, nice Coral Bay view, $2000/negotiable http://www.vrbo.com/156126

I don't know anything about them personally, so maybe if someone on here does, they can offer up some information.

Also, it appears that us TN gals be on island together for at least part of your trip. Exciting that it also means I may be on island with the mysterious Pete and Marcia, but based on what Pete said, I won't expect to see them anywhere, seeing as how they are "villa rats," but just in case, when I'm at Maho I'm gonna' keep an eye out for a guy with a toe ring and a chicken with a beer can shoved up its.....

i checked out the military website (GREAT TOOL I WAS UNAWARE OF! will definitely use for future hotel accomodations) they did no however, offer villa/home rental properties in the USVI.

I have checked many of the listings several of you have included in numerous forum posts.

Windwardside Main House/Calabash Cottages/$1645

Blue Caribe/$1325

Villa Madeline/OFFERING SUPER MILITARY DISCOUNT/$1500

Island Horizons/$1540+tax

Mampoo Hill/$1500 (waiting availability)

Villa Aerie/$2595

Callaloo Cottage/$1595

Starlit Escape/$1400

If anyone has any input on these villas i would greatly appreciate it. i am still waiting on a phone call from iraq to converse with him on these properties, however i have sent numerous emails expressing everyones heartfelt thanks. i really do appreciate all of this hardwork for us. i couldn't ask for more.

thank you from the bottom of our hearts,

Daffodil Villa in Skytop

Post by hawksnestbay »

My daughter honeymooned here July 2006.

http://www.islandgetawaysinc.com/daffoldilvilla.html

$2400 per week for 2, awesome pool, 180 degree view from Reef Bay to St. Croix.

Kathy McLaughlin of Island Getaways is very friendly, and an On-Island Manager who was a big help.

You will enjoy every minute of St John.

Good Luck, and thank you both.

No brainer...... http://www.privatehomesvi.com/nautilus.htm

No pool but it is on 1.25 acres and you have great beaches and snorkeling all over the rock. The cruise ships at night go right pass the house. Oh yea... It is for sale for 2.2 million bucks. That is overpriced for St John but still a great deal for a rental and is avaliable for your dates and under budget!

Erika,
I sent you a PM. This place does not have a pool but I highly recommend it for a couple. Right on the beach and I think the price could be in your budget. It's called String of Pearls and you can access it through St. John Properties.
