RickG,
How do you make more than one ticker anyway?
I wish I had 2 STJ trips planned...

I just enter the codes for two tickers in my signature. The v50.net ticker is pretty rudimentary: you enter the month-day-year and after the underline add the text you want to appear.

Hey Snorkelqueen, I got down to about 45 days and had to restart the ticker at over 360 days! Major bummer, but time really does fly by. Your countdown will look like mine soon :)

Re: countdown - packing

I sent a box down already - so packing should be light. Bringing a toddler is really adding more than I expected. I am thinking that I might just give up and buy it all there.

Sending a box ahead of time sounds like a great idea. Would you mind filling me in on the best way to do this. Would love to get back to carry on luggage only.

Thanks.

Thanks Flip Flop for the words of encouragement! Sometimes sitting at my desk St. John seems so far away.....that's when I go home in the evening and we make painkillers and look at our pictures, movies and visit the forum:D

lovestj-when did you send the box down. HOw long do you exoect it to take to arrive.

Flipflop- Are you planning on sending a box down ahead of you? If so, when will you mail it. I was thinking of mailing a box down by Oct 25th. Do you think that is enough time for my arrival date of Nov 15th?

I think 2 weeks is plenty of time. Three is probably better. I have considered it and haven't decided for sure yet. I think I am going to though. I would ship it priority mail directly to Destination St. John. I would send the stuff that we will be working through, formula (at $26 a can here I can only imagine how much it will cost there) and baby food.

It's so funny to read that shipping things takes so long to the islands.

My daughter sent me bulbs from Hollad and they took no more then 8 days. That's amazing.

Gromit, that's SO nice of you to invite me to your forum gathering! But, alas, we will be doing the walk of woe on Dec 2 :-(

Ugh - I need a countdown!

Even if I don't have all the plans made, I usually know where and about when the next trip is - but, other than a trip to visit my mom-in-law over Thanksgiving (northern NY), I got nothing.

I told Don he had until the end of October to decide. And they call women fickle - first it was St. John, then the BVI, then southern California - last night we were skiing in Vail.

Well - enjoy all of your upcoming adventures!

shipping a box

Post by lovestj »

Well, it worked much better than I expected. I mailed it on a Monday and my confirmation shows that it arrived in St. John that Friday. I am going to call and confirm in the morning. I had it shipped to Christy's of St. John. They are delivering our carseat and baby bed when we get in. They will just drop off the box with it.

I packed all of the diapers, snacks, sunscreen, bug sprays, medicine, etc.... It weighed a ton, but only cost about $30 to send. Totally worth it in my opinion. We are checking one bag and taking one carry on....with a backpack. I have never traveled so light.

That is great timing Lovestj- unfortunately can't depend on it from what I hear on the forum. I will probably play it safe and ship it down next week. That should give it plenty of time to get there before we arrive.
I went to the post office the other day and the flat rate boxes were relatively small. I'm thinking of shipping a regular file size box of stuff down there if it's not too expensive.

Have a great vacation Lovestj and flipflop hope to see you at the beach bar on the 18th.
