Yikes.
Are earthquakes common on St. John?

There was a small one when we were on island. They are actually more common than you think. Not big ones though.

5 in the Virgin Islands region in the last 7 days - 15 if you include the Puerto Rico region as well

Pia,
Is there a fear of someday getting "the big one"? Or isn't that a possibility?

I believe (off the top of my head) we are in Zone 4 the same as California as there is a major "trench" just north of us - I'm too lazy to look up the exact info and names (after all it is Sunday you know ) - but I will try to dig it out of my info that I have stored somewhere on my computer later.

Sorry I asked.
I really expected a "no worries" to my question. Same as California? Major trench? Gulp.....mia

This earthquake wasn't as scary as other ones. It was very short and mild. I thought it was a big truck going by!

Gotta agree CG. Seems like a small worry. Big is when your TV lands in bed with you and water in your pool goes down one foot ala 1994. But then again I live 5 miles from the epicenter.
