Last week in Feb or last week in March...?? hmmm

Post by PaminMaine »

I assume the weather is pretty much the same for the end of February or March? I might worry about the start of rain season at the end of March? Anyone who had more experience on the island care to share their thoughts?

stjchica---Here are some weather charts for VI with some averages.

February and March are the driest months.September-November tend to be rainier. Of course, those are just averages and you can have lots of sunshine, or rain, any time.

Pam---I am visiting STJ in late February this year because I like the weather in STJ that time of year, and its still winter in the midwest.Great time to visit, I think, though late March would be nice too.

We've been going down since 1997 and always at end of February and several times in October. We feel that the chance of rain is greater in October than in February/March. The weather is actually "perfect" in our opinion in February/March so don't worry about that!

We have only visited in May and June. Can the north swells still be happening in Feb and March?
Thanks

Yes, you can get north swells in February/March. That is an advavantage of May/June. On the other hand, I felt there were more bugs and more humidity in May/June. Some prefer the warmer water of summer, though. Lots of factors to consider, and lots of different opinions on what is a nice time to visit.

I think we are arriving Feb 24th for a week. I was there this past May and we only had 1.5 days of sunshine our whole time there! Hope this year to get a bit more. Fingers crossed.. Oh, and no bugs to speak of.

We've been traveling to STJ the last week of March and the first week of April since 1997 and have never been rained out. We may see one rainy day on our annual two week visits if at all.

The 2 rainiest months historically are the shoulder season weather patterns that occur in May and November - the winter is usually very dry - Feb///March is winter here - the North swell is more of a winter phenomena but unpredictable overall and well, if the N is up the S is flat.

Thank you .. I will not book again in May LOL We had a good time but it would have been nice to have a few more sunny days. Will be booking the Feb vacation, the airfair is cheaper!

We've never been in any other month than Feb or March. We like that time because we can get out of the snow and enjoy the sun. We've always had great weather! We will be there the end of February again next trip.

Hello Michigancouple..
It can get pretty snowy here as well. Sounds like we will be there at the same time. I just booked us for Feb 24th-March 3rd. Now to find airfare.....
