Wow, I'm so glad you guys keep suggesting places. I'm going to have fun researching all the places I've never been. We have been most likely to travel out of the states and we are missing a lot of fun and wonderful trips. I do believe we will stay closer to home once the kids arrive some day!

Tracy, thanks for the well wishes! I knew someone on here was a mom through adoption, but I couldn't remember who. We had a failed adoption last month where the baby girl was home with us for two weeks before we had to give her back. It was beyond horrible! We are having our profile shown to another birthmom this week! Congrats on your two boys!!

We are still looking into all these options, but we will keep you all posted!!
Thanks!

Oh Nic - I can not imagine how hard that must have been. So sorry for you - I think lots of people think that adoption is "the easy way" - no pregnancy or delivery to deal with. But there is alot of pain and grief that comes along with it until that child is yours. One day soon I hope that happens to you and your husband - I get the impression that you will be wonderful parents.

That is so awful, my heart breaks for you. A close friend of mine is a social worker and she said that happens more often then people realize.

Sending good wishes your way for the next time!

Nic, I am so sorry to hear that. I know many people who've adopted, and all of them had a heartbreak or two along the way. The good news? They all adopted successfully and are so happy with their families. My best friend is currently suffering extreme fertility issues, and adoption could be in her future. My fingers are crossed for you.

Wishing you all the best in your adoption process. As for travel... we're not big fans of "commercial" Florida.... but based on an article in Budget Travel (which, by the way, is a great resource: www.budgettravel.com), we went to Flagler Beach, Florida. It's on the Atlantic side, and is a community where it feels like "time stood still". The county is militant "anti-development". They won't let fast food chain restaurants or hotels in, no high-rises, etc. So, there's just little mom and pop establishments all over... very fun. We stayed at a cozy little motel, with separate duplex-type cabins. Not fancy. But, directly across the road from the beach. It's close enough to drive to some of the east coast FLA "destinations" if you want... but it's like going back about 30 years when you return. At least it was 5 years ago. It's about the only place in FLA that I would return to. OK... admittedly, I'm a little weird.
Good luck!
