At least I don't have to say I'm from "Bean Station, TN." That's where my husband was born and raised. First time he told me where he was from, I thought he made it up.
Hey, I frequently WORK in Knoxville, even though I'm one of those Virginia people.

Now, Bean Station, that's a fine place name to be proud of.

My family is from Macon, GA. I say that and its always "Macon Count line?" Ya, that's Alabama. The family in Georgia teases me and my family about talking like Yankees. The Yankees ask where we are from in the South. I can live with that.

Cheers, RickG

Are you from Tennessee? 'Cause you're the only ten I see!

Haha, sorry, couldn't resist.

I haven't seen others from Colorado around here... but I still don't feel lonely.

So funny this thread, but you guys have nothing on VA.

I do have a friend from Philly who's NUTSO brother in law often says (much to her amusement) I have a tennessee to _______________.

He means tendency to do ___________.

And he is SERIOUS.

I have a very wonderful aunt in Knoxville, and Tennessee is one of my favorite states to visit! I grew up in central Illinois, about a 6 hour drive to Nashville.

Illinois is vastly different from the north end to the south end...or rather, from the northeast corner where Chicagoland is versus the rest of the state.

You are definitely not alone. We spend many nights in Tennessee, especially during the summer with my sons' baseball tournaments. We stayed in Nashville this past Saturday night on our way back from FL.
I have noticed though, that there don't seem to be too many people on this forum from our area(s). I think that Coden is the only other Kentuckian that I am sure of.
My son is a big Vols fan. He wants to go to college and play baseball there . . . he's 10. All of the UK fans around here really appreciate all of the orange he wears

Hey Bandit - What is wrong with Memphis? I live an hour from Memphis in AR. If it wasn't for Mem, I would be insane (living in a little country town).

Hey Cat - I lived in Louisiana for 26 years and I will ALWAYS consider Louisiana to be home! Does that count? Geaux Tigers!!!!!

What's wrong with Memphus?
Not much except the distance to get there and maybe a little crime  . It takes forever to get there from the other side of Tennessee. It's also downriver from some large cities to the north and you know what we say about being downriver? Boy the catfish sure are BIG here!!!

What's right with Memphus?
1. Near Tunica (Little Las Vegas)
2. The Music and Beale Street
3. The Peabody Ducks (which should be The Grizzlies name)
4. The Rendezvous ( you can order BBQ online BTW)
5. Memphis in May (it smokes our mountains)
6. It's on the way to alot of other places
7. You have an entire family (The Fords- not Henry or Gerald either) to entertain you :D

Hey Bandit ~ I agree with your #1. Tunica is awesome. I work for a company here in PA that has a plant in Lyon, MS. I go there quite often and we stay in Tunica (only because it's the closest town with a hotel). The only problem is I usually don't get a whole lot of work done :D
