They give to charitable organizations, and get involved with community projects, often in the background without fanfare. At the end of the day, they want to be regular Joes and not get mobbed when they are out grocery shopping or picking up a pizza.
True of "celebrities" many places and on St John as well.

I feel so bad sometimes for celebrities. We were at a concert last summer and one of our local Carolina Canes hockey stars was there with his wife. Such a cute couple and OBVIOUSLY having a date night. You could NOT believe how fast people mobbed them - in the MIDDLE OF A SONG to take pix and get autographs! They were very sweet and patient - but you could tell they were anxious to get back to their "date"! People can just be VERY rude and thoughtless.

Ncsue: it is shocking how rude people are. My husband and I own a business and don't like going out for dinner locally. People will come to our table and talk "shop". It is so annoying!

Greenskeeper brings up a point . . . Ruth, does kc help the community?

Also Ruth, for the first time I understand why St. John is so protective of kc. The live and let live vibe is one of the many things I love about st John

Yes, Kenny does a lot for our community, and not always in ways that you will read about in the newspaper or on the internet.

We know, through a friend the family, a very famous baseball player. He and his family almost never go out because they can't have a moments piece. His mom mentioned it is so hard for him because fans expect him to be all smiles and sunshine all the time. His kids little league games are a nightmare. I have heard people say his is such a jerk, so arrogant and so on but he is just trying to watch his kid's game without signing autographs the entire time.

My FIL worked for a television station for years. He used to travel with some of the local sports team out of state. He said in Massachusetts (Boston specifically) movie stars could walk through Logan with nary a second glance but the second a professional athlete did, it was mayhem. He found witnessing those encounters to be very disconcerting.

Never on STJ but just last week we were having cocktails on the patio of the Boston Harbor Hotel and Bill Bellichick and a guest were sitting at the next table. Full disclosure though, I wouldn't have known him from beans. The guys told me.

I'm not a celebrity, except in my own mind, but I LOVE the Boston Harbor Hotel ! One of my favorite places.

I'm going to have to say that I am a huge KC fan, just got back from Vegas show HOWEVER when I go to St John I don't seek him out. I actually would feel very stupid. I saw Clayton (guitar player) walking through the casino but I also realized he was probably on his way somewhere, wearing a hat and probably didn't want me chasing after him, not that I have enough guts to do it.
I have to agree with Ruth, posting addresses is a little scary. What I love the most about STJ is that everyone is so laid back and it's so peaceful and relaxing. Can you imagine how he feels about trying to unwind and people are driving by his home? Its not LA guys.....anyway just saying. Hubby and I will be back in October to celebrate on Hawksnest where we got married and I won't be stalking Kc....poor guy.

I don't think anyone seeks out to see a celebrity when they vacation in the VI's. When I think of celebrity vacation hot spots, places like St.Barts or the Amalfi Coast come to mind not our little corner of the caribbean. Thats why I think it's fun when you do see one. It's like wow, they know about our little slice of heaven too!
