WHOA! Major Bummer! :( :( Brings up a question tho....does trip insurance cover a volcanic eruption? In a different part of the world? :x

Hope it all works out for you.

Maggy, I'm so sorry. I know you were happy and excited about the trip just the other day and then this happens. The whole thing sure must feel surreal to you.

Sounds like you do need a Plan B at this point (hate to say it, but...). I can only imagine how stressful this must be. Try not to lose the positive spirit that you have. I really hope everything will work out for you.

I hope it clears up for your Maggy or at the very least, you are able to rebook at a time that works for you. Sending good thoughts.

The bright side is that aviation experts now know the danger of volcanic ash to aircraft. Last night, I saw an interview with pilots who had experienced flying through a less significant cloud a number of years ago and it was a very scary, harrowing situation. :D

People are safe- even if it's not where they want to be.

And to anyone stuck in STJ because they can't fly back to Europe. LUCKY YOU!

A friend of mine is a corporate pilot. He is so upset that he is stuck on an island but it is not in the Virgin Islands.

Maggy, positive thoughts are being sent your way.

Maggy - was this the trip that was going to be half on STJ and half on VG?

Yes jmq, that's the exact trip.

I got a positive message from the villa owner and they will let us rechedule to another time when they have openings. I'm so grateful for that.

Let's see if Courtesy car rental will let me reschedule or if they take my $100 deposit. I hope they also are nice and understanding.

Still no improvements of the ash cloud situation. In fact it looks even worse. No idea when we can start to fly again. Since I work for an airline, I also am worried for us and all other airlines. We lose millions every day. I'm scared. Will I have a job if this goes on? If not, I don't afford to go to STJ anyway, so problem might take care of itself. Now I will go and put a blanket over my head and cry for a while :(

Thinking of you Maggy.....so so sad for you as I know how I would feel in your position. So glad villa is being nice to let you rebook. I do pray all works out for you: STJ, work, volcano, etc.

oh Maggy :(
I hope it clears up soon and that you can get your trip in at some point soon too. You've waited a long time for this.

Thank you again for your understanding.

I don't want to by a crybaby anymore, so we have just accepted that it is what it is. We both went back to work today and maybe there is a remote possibility that we can start with our VG week and then go to STJ. Otherwise we have to reschedule our whole trip and that we will do.

Our (SAS) first flights from the US arrived in Stockholm and Oslo this morning (Copenhagen still closed) and they expect to fly back to the US again. As a matter of fact, one departed 10 minutes ago. But after that no one knows again. The line for passengers wanting to fly with those are also very long, so I expect that it will be very hard to get a seat this week.

We have to wait and see.

I wish all my friends on the island, that we were supposed to meet up with, a great time. And all the others on the island too of course
