I live in Cincinnati and have very few options for travel outside of Delta (which is becoming even less of an option since the NorthWest merger). I am a Platinum Medallion member as I fly a lot for work. About 5 years ago, I decided to take my wife to French Polynesia for a 2 week trip, and I had over 200,000 miles in my account. I called Delta and told them I would take any 2 week time period - starting any day of the week - between May and December. This was in March. NO FLIGHTS AVAILABLE. Yep, that's right. In a 10 month window, there were no flights available. I was told that if I was willing to spend 150,000 miles PER TICKET, I could have my choice of any available date. What a crock!

I'm also looking for another card option. My AMEX Delta card is becoming less of a good deal with every passing day. We've managed a number of free flights to STT over the past 5 years, but it is getting harder and harder.

150,000 miles a tic OUCH. Guess we've been lucky last few years for our St John vacations. Gotten 8 free ticks from various cards. Looks like a card that let's ya go with any airline is the way alot of peeps are headed. The airlines are becoming too restrictive with there flights offered from their cards.
