Post by Pia »

Good news as reported in the St John Source (see link)..........................

Pia

"Delta will up daily flights from Atlanta to St. Thomas to four flights daily on certain days and will also be flying to St. Croix seven days a week beginning in December. Delta flights from New York to St. Thomas will increase from two days a week to seven.

American Airlines will add three flights to St. Croix out of Miami beginning Nov. 19, bringing the total number of American flights into St. Croix to 10 per week."

My 177,000 miles are intrigued.

Still...there will be no seats available at the Sky Saver rate when I want to travel.

I read that the DOT is also instituting a "Secret Shopper" program - now, THAT'S a gig that I would love - Secret Shopper in the USVI..

Pip - we used the Delta "Pay with Miles" option for our April trip and it worked well. Tickets were $377 from Atlanta, and it cost us 37,700 miles per ticket, just 2,700 over what a skysaver "costs." That might be an option to check into the next time you want to fly Delta to St. John, particularly if roundtrip costs are reasonable from Raleigh during your travel dates.

In order to "Pay with Miles" you need to have a Delta credit card of sorts, or be one of the higher level Frequent Fliers.

But, it probably pays to get a Delta card just to do it. Its a great option. We got our flights in February for about 42k miles instead of 60k as the flights cost $420. As you can figure out, its only 100 miles per dollar. Considering there are only a few "skysaver" tickets on each flight, its a really good way to save miles, especially if you fly Delta somewhat often.
