Pip - we used the Delta "Pay with Miles" option for our April trip and it worked well. Tickets were $377 from Atlanta, and it cost us 37,700 miles per ticket, just 2,700 over what a skysaver "costs." That might be an option to check into the next time you want to fly Delta to St. John, particularly if roundtrip costs are reasonable from Raleigh during your travel dates.

In order to "Pay with Miles" you need to have a Delta credit card of sorts, or be one of the higher level Frequent Fliers.alw1977 wrote:Pip - we used the Delta "Pay with Miles" option for our April trip and it worked well. But, it probably pays to get a Delta card just to do it. Its a great option. We got our flights in February for about 42k miles instead of 60k as the flights cost $420. As you can figure out, its only 100 miles per dollar. Considering there are only a few "skysaver" tickets on each flight, its a really good way to save miles, especially if you fly Delta somewhat often.
