djmom wrote:I do agree with Soxfan that the "teabagging" comments were extremely juvenile. I heard it a whole bunch last night on the news from several left leaning commentators and guests. It was really really offensive- extreme and pornographic really-it made them look small--and actually I think hurt their cause (the left). There was no reason for that.

They (employees of the network- I believe I was watching CNBC at the time) actually should be reprimanded for that. And that term should be bleeped out. That is like saying "BJ" on the air.

I can accept lively political commentary (even though it highly annoys me when it is from the other side :) ) But the childish, sexual angle really diminishes a news organization.

And for the record, if there are similar prior extreme offenses from the right, I find that offensive as well.
It is the reason why CNN ratings are in the tank, while FOX News viewership increases by the day.

Agree that the teabagging stuff is lazy, stupid, and offense from the likes of Cooper.

Sorta expect that from the likes of Stewart and Colbert, but even they didnt go there...

JMQ - I wouldn't even have a problem with the "teabagging" term had it come from Colbert or Stewart. Those guys don't do news, they do comedy/satire. I realize we have an entire generation of 15-22 year old who think these guys represent "newsmen", which is sad in and of itself.

Seems like the keyword these days over at FoxNews is “tyranny”. Fox viewers may need to take Jon’s advice and “pace your rage"...

For the same reason that some conservatives always seem to think that Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan speak for all liberals.

And back to my point about both sides wanting to smear each other, doesn't it make the most sense to try and paint the whole buch of "them" with the same brush that describes the most extreme examples?

JMQ- that isn't news. stewart probably would have made teabagging funny. I would totally expect that on a comedy channel.

not on a news channel though. that is a no-no.

Or, maybe they are like me. I have never heard that term and have no idea what its connotation is. Please, no one bother to enlighten me, OK?

I opened this thread because I thought it might be about real tea parties, with recipes and stuff. I'm hosting one in a couple of weeks and am looking for ideas.

But, it's not! :? Carry on!

There's plenty of blame to go around, and as long as both parties put smearing the other one ahead of fixing the problems, things aren't likely to get better any time soon.
Thats pretty much what yesterday was all about. Bought and paid for by the republicans

Don't invite any politicians or political activists, but if you do (or you don't and they show up anyway) get a lot of food in their mouth pronto!

You crack me up!! I am glad I'm not the only one that doesn't know the term "teabagging". But I can guess what it means.

I tried to keep this non-political, but I guess as Americans, we can all express our opinions and not get arrested.......yet.

Becky......did you really think this was a recipe post? You must only watch the cooking channel. You are so cute.

Now THAT'S LOL funny. Myself, I had no idea what the acronym WDYT meant and had to look it up.

So please excuse me now - I have to go chase some kids off my lawn…

You didn't know "WDYT" and I didn't know "teabagging". How funny. You're kids must be much younger than mine. They have acronyms for paragraphs.

Hey, you won, so don't worry! You got what you want so let people vent. Free speech, right?

p.s. there were lots of dems at the NC tea parties.

p.s.s. i am not a fan of the tea parties....or teabagging either!

Just as George Soros funded every left-wing anti-war "protest" over the last decade. What's your point?

I would ask - What is your proof that these things were funded by Repubs? I was involved in the CT version, and I know that the funding here was all private, and the organizer (who have no professional involvement in politics) secured all of the necessary permits, etc by themselves.

The left just can't handle the fact that there are actually people who think their policies will ruin this country - if left unchecked.
