Little tip:

When travelling on the switchbacks on the Northshore road -- especially when you have to swing into the other lane-- it's polite to give a quick TOOT TOOT on the horn to let any oncoming traffic know you're on your way around.

This has saved our ass on occasion and is pretty much SOP on island.

This is procedure is essential on switchback just before you get to Peter Bay switchback (coming from Cruz Bay).

The kind of class I'm thinking about is the one where they wet the parking lot and put down cones.

Learning just what a car can do, even in the wet might be liberating.

I sound fearless but truth be told I don't let many people drive me under any circumstances

I need a class in defensive riding. My driving is fine. I haven't had a ticket or accident my entire life.

The switchbacks on North Shore are challenging but you at least have a view of the on-coming traffic. Gift Hill was a white knuckle ride for my passengers last trip. The view of on-coming traffic is very limited and we had the pleasure of encountering a number of cement trucks headed down as we were headed up. Beautiful views from there or so I am told.

I for one follow the 'toot-toot' rule and always appreciate the same from others.

After I told my son of the roads on St.J he went on google earth and checked out the roads. I don't know that much about it but he was following 107 going to Concordia and having fun with that. He's 21 and now wants to go to St.J just to drive the roads...
