Has anyone ever died driving off their villa driveway?
Obviously, if you were the one that died I do not anticipate you will respond.
But has anyone heard of that before.
We are looking at a villa in Calabash Boom and I am afraid....very afraid.

Don't sweat it, you'll be fine if you follow one simple rule...
DON'T DRIVE OFF THE SIDE!
Seriously, though, if you can drive at home, you can drive on-island too. If a passenger has to get out and spot for you, so be it. I alwyas figure that if a water or cement truck can BACK UP Calabash Boom (I've seen it done), with a little care and attention, we'll get through too.

Maybe my fear is irrational but we have been to St. John at least 8 times. And I get better every time, but I just don't want a driveway from hell. Not something we have to go up and down 2 or 3 times a day.
I just can't take it.
I don't like falling off cliffs!

There have been no villa traffic fatalities--in fact, this is a very safe place to drive, in that it's usually us locals who get in trouble, from knowing the roads too well.
I might be wrong, but I can't remember a visitor fatality since the early 1970's---and they were under the influence of substances that might have made them believe they were on I-95 rather than North Shore Road.

I've wondered the same thing. After our very close call at Sol Inclination last year, I always put the vehicle in 4WD when pulling in and out of a steep driveway. The drive was barely wet and I couldn't get traction until we were almost over the edge. It makes my heart pound now just thinking about it!

I can drive with my knees
4WD is very helpful and so long as you don't barrel into wet downhill switchbacks, you will be just fine.
Wakey, if I die I am going to come back and scare the living daylights out of you. I wonder if taking a class on defensive driving might help someone that was nervous in cars.
The kind of class I'm thinking about is the one where they wet the parking lot and put down cones.
Learning just what a car can do, even in the wet might be liberating.
I sound fearless but truth be told I don't let many people drive me under any circumstances
