hypothetical question (hopeful, but hyopthetical)

Post by deejayjay »

If you were to fly your own plane into STT, and your dog,(a large but very kind German Shepherd) were to come with you, would you be able to bring said dog into STJ? Would you need any special requirements or paperwork? If you could get said dog into STJ, would there be any villas, condos, etc that would allow a dog? Just a thought.

No problem bringing the dog to STT or STJ - it has to have a current health certificate (within 10 days of arriving) from your vet and be current on it's shots.

I have seen some condos listed on VRBO that allow pets but have never know anyone to actually do it.

Also, do know that dogs are not allowed on any beaches within the National Park.

OMG...the thought of bringing my 180 lb. Mastiff is just funny  She would never survive the heat. She likes it cold!

Not a problem. I knew some customers that used to come into Cafe Roma that did that. Flew from FL with their 2 dogs.

Someone I know on STJ with a big dog told me that he has to treat his dog with Frontline a lot more often than he would in the states...just something to keep in mind :)

Thanks for the info Pia. Just sort of dreaming outloud. So far the only parts of this equation that exist are the husband and the dog. Both travel extremely well. In our 30 years and 5 dog marriage this is the best dog we have ever had. Would never have considered this question with any other dog. He loves to travel, goes with us on alot of our travels and constantly amazes everyone, sometimes even us, with his calm and obedience. I haven't decided if it's because he's a german shepherd, or if we have just become better at being dog parents. He is a long haired shepherd though, and he does get hot.

My German Shedder Dog was very easy to get along with and smarter than most people's children. I still miss her, 30 years later.

Which beaches are NOT part of the National Park?

You wrote "german shedder dog".

I don't know if that's a typo or not, but it certainly is true

Nope it's not a typo! My German Shedder provided more hair bunnies than my collie and my shetland sheepdog combined!

One of our K9 kids we rescued is a German Shepherd/ Yellow Lab mix- with many Shepherd traits. He's scary smart- really amazing.

He'd absolutely love the STJ beaches and retrieve anything you could throw into the water.

Gibney beach is not part of the Park although the water is (at least that is what I have been told) - go figure that one :? and I have heard of dogs getting into trouble for taking a swim in the ocean at Gibney when caught by a ranger, all of the other North Shore Beaches are within the National Park. Haulover is out of the National Park.
