Paradiso used to be a really nice restaurant (it was our favorite on St. John for a while) but after the chef, Ted Robinson, left for Tage, it sort of went down hill, in my opinion. I know Ted eventually left Tage too but did I hear he’s back again with Tage?

I really like Subway. The quality is the absolute best, the service is the fastest on the island, plenty of free parking, and if they don't have change for a hundred you can always go next door and get it.

And BTW, Happy Valentines Day early since many of you Yanks may be without power tomorrow due to ice and won't be able to be on the boards (but I sincerely hope that doesn't happen).

You are bad, Bandit. :D

Pickle, I had confirmation a few weeks ago that Ted is back at Tage. I sure hope so!

Had a good meal at Paradiso. My husband's osso bucco was "melt in your mouth." Also extremely enjoyed the Lime Inn. Excellent as well. Filet mignon w/brie with fab at Lime Inn. Will post restaurant review soon.

Asolare and The Balcony are my favorite on the list (though I have not been to Ten Tables or Ocean Grill). The food and atmosphere at Asolare may have a slight edge, but it is also more expensive. We liked the location of the Balcony - right in Cruz Bay and the sunset was nice (though in the sun it was very warm when we were there - we saw several people ask for a change of seats).

You guys are great. We will try Asolare and Ocean Grill and I'll definitely write a review and let you know what we thought.

I'd also really like to catch the Sunday afternoon music at the Beach Bar. We have always been with our sons so we haven't gotten to spend much time at the Beach Bar/ Woody's pub type places but music afternoon lunch at the Beach Bar sounds great after a morning at the beach. I like what I hear about the sandwiches. So much to eat, drink and do....so little time.

I love this thread - and wish everyone had been specific about menu selection. I'd love to try some of these places and know what to order.

Gosh darn, so many people seem to rave about Sweet Plantains. Pete and I went there last year and were so disappointed. Everything was curry. I/We love curry but that was the only flavor offered, starting with our soup and then carried throughout everything we ordered.

I know I've posted about this experience before so I don't want to blow it out of proportion but, I must say, I'm not a big fan. (Sorry!)

Maryanne, your recipes kick these people's %&$$. And, have you, by the way, offered your recipes on the on st john site? Ohhhhhhh, best meal ever was the one prepared with your inspiration (and FedEx'd banana leaves).

I can do that for you! John and I keep notes on pretty much every aspect of our vacation, including what we eat. I've been to every place on the list with the exception of Ocean Grill, so tell me which ones you are interested in and I will give specifics.

LaTapa is my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have to go atleast once EVERY trip. Love it! love it! Love it!
I haven't been to Asolare.
Make sure you try Latapa on this trip. We already have menus for our May trip on our triphub site. It is important to us also. I make reservations before I go even if I may not need them. We didn't one time on a Feb. trip and had some trouble getting in to places or we had to go very late in the evening. After a day of snorkeling, I don't stay up to late.

ummmmmmm short ribs!
I know Charlie had Paella at La Tapa but for the life of me I can't recall what I had. I just know he wanted my dish more than his own! not that he didn't love it but mine was better :)
