iPhone geeks...favorite apps?
Worldview actually uses http://www.webcams.travel/ for webcam pages. I sent them the new URL, but who knows when it will be updated.Maryanne wrote:Does Ruth have to submit the new cam address to the WorldView app people, does anyone know?
I have to confess that I didn't read this whole thread, but am hoping someone will answer my question even if it's been asked...
I have gadget envy for the iPhone and hubby is considering indulging me with a phone for the holidays. While I like the idea I have to be sure I'd want him to drop the money on it before I give him the go-ahead (even though he says it doesn't matter). Can someone please tell me how much an iPhone costs? I know you've got the cost of the plan on top of the phone, but we'd be switching hubby's blackberry onto the same plan, canceling my regular phone, so consider that piece negligible.
Thanks in advance,
Jennifer

Chick- I'm pretty sure AT&T is the exclusive carrier of iPhone these days...minimum $200 for the phone +$74 a month for service, I think...If you have another AT&T account you may be able to trim the cost a bit...

No disrespect, but I find it far superior to the cell phone that I had been using. No "walkie-talkie effect" if you know what I mean. And, as you alluded to, it is much more than just a phone.Maryanne wrote:MrB, thanks for sending that url to the app people.
And Sherban, that's about the price of it.... as a phone, I think it's sub-par, but as a little box of magic, it's priceless. I wouldn't trade it for my old Verizon phone.
I loves me my iPhone.

Hey I have a question for the someone who really knows their "i-things"...
It seems to me that the new iPod Touch has many of the features of the iPhone (minus the phone, of course)...it does videos, apps, music, web-browser....
So I'm thinking maybe it does almost everything the iPhone does (minus the phone)...but there is no monthly data charge...so I gotta be missing something, right?
What's the bottom line of the capability differences, anyone know?
Thanx!

Obviously the touch is not a phone, so that's big difference. It also does not have GPS, so the cool map feature on the iphone would not be available. Also, as was mentioned, it only picks up wifi, not the 3G network.
To me, they have completely different purposes. The touch is for watching video, listening to music and web browsing if a wifi signal can be had.
The iPhone does all of that, but also integrates the calendar, phone, contacts and can web browse without a wifi signal. Oh, and the format of the texting function is just too cool for school.
If I were in the market for a all-in-one Blackberry type of device, I would buy the iPhone. If I wanted an iPod with an attitude, I would get the touch. Very different devices.

And you can play the guitar on the iPhone:

Cool stuff...I would assume that 3G vs WiFi is one big difference...obviously phone vs no-phone too...
Both the iPhone and iPod touch seem to have alot of the same capabilities outside thise two, I'll have to do more homework on this...both are definately cool.
