Always have to go to Shipwreck Landing at least once, not because of the food (its good) but because of the first time memories, repeated below...
On only our second full day ever on STJ, we daysailed on White Wing out of Coral Bay. We had the boat to ourselves and we wound up doing the Roadtown, Indians, and Caves trip based on what he said would make for the best sail and snorkel that day based on the weather, waves, tides, etc.
After a 40 min. stop in Roadtown where we shopped while he did customs, we snorkeled the Indians and the Caves, swung through the harbor on Norman Island around the Willy T., and took the scenic route back to Coral Bay through an area where whales are known to frequent (didn’t see any) and got back as evening fell. (We met Clark in Cruz Bay next day to check back into customs)
The sailing was wonderful. The White Wing is a clean, swift boat. And man, can he handle that boat – fun to watch. Clark makes good drinks and sandwiches, plays good music, and is interesting to talk to – turns out he grew up in New Jersey and learned to sail and fish here. We took turns steering the boat. And the snorkeling - my daughter exclaimed that she thought the snorkeling was good at Salt Pond the day before, but this “blew it away” (apparently she was already an expert). Depth reader on boat said forty feet and you could see clear down to bottom. Fascinating variety of rock formations and coral at the Indians, more fish at the Caves.

Back on shore in the dark, we are deciding between Island Blues and Shipwreck Landing for dinner. Island Blues had given us a maybe better for lunch kind of vibe so went with Shipwreck. Very cool. Had good live music, with various patrons feeling no pain dancing or even singing with the band. Cold drinks, great blackened snapper, Mahi, and some of the best fish and chips ever for my daughter, and good service despite the crowd. I thought you got good bang for buck there too.
Also had a blackout while waiting for food (band too loud? Maybe the guitar was turned up to 11). Caused much merriment in and around the bar. The speed with which the generator was fired up restoring power to restaurant gave the impression that this is not an infrequent occurrence.
We have to slow down for our first STJ donkeys on the drive back to Estate Lindholm. All in all, a pretty fantastic day. (still one of the best vacation days ever.)
We re-live that day whenever we go back there, so we HAVE to go back everytime.

On St Thomas...Blue Moon for their Tuna Tartar
and Latitude 18 for attitude adjustment...(meaning that your feeling your finally on island time which to us is Vaca...wish STJ had a place like it...really haven't found anything like it there)
On St John...Lime Inn...Rich has always made us feel very welcome over the years...Brie cheese filet...for adults and pasta for kids...
Wondering what is the tuna downunder at the Beach Bar? Guess since always have kids, it's not easy for us to go there...

jmq - I love the story - we had a very similar experience. We were there in May 2007 and went out on White Wing with some other forumites. We had experienced rain ever since we had arrived in STJ a few days prior. But this day was a beautiful sunny sparkling STJ day - perfect for a sailing trip. We snorkeled several sites off STJ and had a great time. We enjoyed White Wing and the captain and the company of JoAnn in VA and Maggy and their spouses. Afterwards, we had a great meal at Shipwreck. It is one of my fav spots because of the atmosphere and good food.
