Favorite Float

I've gotten so many great ideas and tips from this forum on handy items ... I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good travel float for relaxing in the ocean. I know I can just get a cheapie blow up at the store but wondering if there is anything out there that is particularly travel friendly and...

Taxi Question

I see the rates listed for taxi service between Cruz Bay and different locations, but I couldn't find information on how much a taxi would be from, say, Maho to Hawknest. We are trying to decide - if we are just visiting a couple beaches on the north shore - should we just take a taxi or would it be...

Re: 8 days with carry-on luggage only?!

I am curious as to the reason that most people do not like to check bags. Is it the extra cost that most airlines hit you with or is it the hassle of waiting for your checked bag(s) at the airport? I actually prefer to check bags because of the additional capacity and because I like to travel light...

Re: 8 days with carry-on luggage only?!

I guess we could wear our snorkel gear - worst case  Yeah, the more I think about it, I don't think it will be too much of a challenge. We never leave home without our neat sheet and I am thinking of getting one of those polar bear coolers since they appear to actually work - vs many of the oth...

8 days with carry-on luggage only?!

We went to Italy for 2 weeks with carry on luggage only so I'm thinking surely we can manage a trip to St with carry on only, right?! If it weren't for the darn snorkel gear and sunscreen ... :? Seriously, we definitely need to bring our own gear, but I reckon we could just buy suncreen when we get ...

54B - you are reading my mind

Question about the trail to Solomon ... is it feasible to bring chairs/cooler for a beach day or is it a backpack only kind of hike?

Re: So many beaches - so little time!

I appreciate all your comments! We know we can't visit all the beaches so we are trying to prioritize a few places that we definitely want to see, then we will just go with the flow once we get there. Since we are staying in Cruz Bay, I was hoping not to have to rent a car the entire trip as my husb...

Re: So many beaches - so little time!

Thanks for the tips. We are just doing a little research so that we can better make the most of our visit and by no means are we trying to see it all...we know that is not possible nor would that be enjoyable :)

It's just my husband and me so that makes getting around a little easier!

Re: All-inclusive resorts

We do an aJamaicaery unique experiencep to an AI in Mexico over the week of Thanksgiving. Our favorite area is the stretch between Tulum and Playa Del Carmen. After staying in most of the different major chains we just booked a return visit to the Grand Palladium. Check out their discussion forum - ...

So many beaches - so little time!

We are making very loose plans for our visit to St John in June. I was wondering if it's best to try to visit one beach a day or could we leisurely visit two? We mainly want to snorkle a bit and relax - we don't want to feel rushed. What is your typical day?!

Re: Lurker with a question about Waterlemon Cay ;)

Ed, congratulations on your 30th! We will be there in 16 weeks celebrating our 20th :) Sounds like we will might be passing by each other en route. Although it seems routine to take the dinghy to Waterlemon, I think we might just hit the places where we can beach it because I'm not sure I want the h...

Lurker with a question about Waterlemon Cay ;)

Yes, I've been a lurker on this board for quite a while trying to absorb as much as your expertise as possible as we plan for our upcoming trip to STJ in early June. It will be just my husband and myself - yeah! We are 40-50ish and enjoy snorkeling, beaches, and happy hour ;) We plan to rent a dingh...
