@catbat - now those are quality tips! We heard of the 'phantom' bus, but never saw it. Kind people always picked us up hitchhiking before the bus ever came around. I'll definitely use Connections next time for baggage, we would have saved half (although he did put them onto the ferry for us). Plus -...

Thanks for the well wishes on our cameras. I hope Olympus honors the warranty for us like they did for others . Cinnamon Bay Campground couldn't have been much better for us. The camp store was limited, but had enough beer, rum, ice, and charcoal to keep us afloat. The bugs weren't too bad. The mosq...

Your daily report brought back wonderful memories for me. My girlfriend and I were at Skinnies the same time as you - watching the band. We also attended the Blues Fest (and saw the tail gaiters). Apparently for the islanders who didn't want to fork out $30 - the hill behind the baseball field is th...

Trip Report - Cinnamon Bay Campground + More
Attached is a link to my trip report and pictures from our March 2010 trip. We camped in a bare site at Cinnamon Bay for 7 nights and enjoyed every minute of it. The report isn't short, but hopefully our adventure will encourage others to travel to Saint John with a tent the next time they visit. Re...

Blues Festival
Has anyone been to the St. John Blues Festival over the past 7 years? According to the Steve Simon Presents website March 17-21, 2010 will be the 8th Annual celebration.
Coral Bay Ball Field is listed as the location.

Chaco Sandals are by far the best I've worn.
I've been forced to run over 4 miles in them, and hike short trails with a backpack. They never caused a blister and the traction is reasonable (for a sandal).

When packing to camp on Saint John I'm having a much harder time. Tent, sleeping bag/sheet, water bladders, cooler, day pack, towel, snorkel gear, .... it adds up quick. I keep telling myself 'only the essentials' - but what I think is essential varies day to day. The list keeps growing and I still ...

WaterGuy says: I like Polar Bear soft sided coolers for this if checking. Two weeks ago I brought steaks and pork tenderloins down in my back pack so if you don't have alot thats an option Good tip. Our trip will be 7 days, so I am pretty sure we will have too much for a soft cooler. Plus having a ...

Planning the same trip
My girlfriend and I are currently planning this same trip, for the same reason (low cash flow). We are also avid NC / VA backpackers and look forward to using our USAirways FF miles to make this trip amazing. We will be in STJ mid March for 7 full days. We are considering bringing a cooler as checke...
