I'm an SU grad and my husband was at that game! As amazing as it was, I know he would have preferred to have been on St John! I've been there many times the first week of April. Always been gorgeous. Been there early March a couple times and found the water to be cooler. Any time is a good time to b...

Have done the swim before but would like to go hang with a book & towel (both dry!!). My mental picture does not have the distance as that great between Hawksnest & Gibney on the road so that's why I asked. Thanks for the advice!

If we were dropped off at Hawksnest by taxi and wanted to over to Gibney, would we just walk to that big gate and down in? Would that be a dangerous walk along the road?

The race ran in June when I was there. Very very cute and great prizes! Returning in two weeks and might join in this time!

New resort?

I just read on a villas website that a new 5 diamond resort between Choc Hole and Westin was opening soon. What have I missed?

We've used Island Birds many times and always been pleased. A long time ago we used FlyBVI and were happy with them as well. They had a mini-cooler for each row with beer, champagne split and water/soda. Made it kind of fun. Don't have any recent experience though.

We took the ferry once from St John to VG for the day. We had Mahogany Car Rental meet us at the ferry dock with a car. We had about 5 hours on the island. We enjoy ferry rides so the trip there and back was fun. It's a busy, full day but if you have not been then I'd say go and see if you like it. ...

We've cancelled the car and decided to go with taxi's. Probably one day we'll grab a car to get back to Coral Bay. We've been exploring St John since 1992 so taxi fares and car rental prices have changed a lot. My teen daughter and husband are going to dive several times so I'll probably just taxi o...

Thank you. The rate sheet I had found must have been very old but did not have a date. Rates are twice what I had seen. Cheers!

Taxi fare vs rental car

I'm trying to add up our possible taxi costs to compare to renting a car for our 5 day stay. Is taxi fare from the Westin to Cruz Bay still just $2.50? We always rent a car but at $70-85/day, it seems like we're paying a lot of extra for "the convenience". Plus our daughter loves the open ...

Why not take the ferry over for the day? I think you arrive around 8:30am or 9 and have until 3pm. Lots of time to do as you please.

Thanks Pia. We had margaritas for dinner last night and got real honest about our upcoming spring break trip to Grand Cayman. Great place but we all really miss St John. So I came home and switched everything! Isn't tequila a wonderful thing! Wahoo, less than a month!! Can hardly stand it!!
