We rented Island Horizons (in Coral Bay) from Private Homes in May and also found this agency great to work with. Just like a previous poster, we also felt we should offer some sort of tip after the agency rep escorted us to the home and gave the tour and all the info, and she would not accept it. S...

I'm with Lex and planned our Big Island/Maui trip a few years back with the help of Trip Advisor. I thought it was a pretty active forum, particularly the Maui one, but BI was good, too. We had an awesome time, but as the other PA poster said, it is a horribly long flight from our neck of the woods....

Thanks for the replies. I forgot; one of the forms was a credit card authorization form, so I guess they will just take the deposit at some point. I think I'll sit tight for a couple days, and if I don't hear from them, I'll call to check in, make sure they got the forms, and ask about the deposit. ...

St. John Car Rental
STJ Car Rental sent us forms to fill out to reserve a car for May. We faxed them over the weekend. Does anyone know when we should expect to hear from them again? I e-mailed them to confirm that they got our forms, but I haven't heard back yet. I hesitate to send the deposit till I know that they ha...

New Horizons II was mentioned and recommended on another forum. Looks like a fun day. I think the boat is a little smaller than Breakaway, but it's still a group charter.

Hi, Lazylane: We haven't stayed there but will be for 5 nights in May. I'll be sure to report on the home when we get back. I did talk to someone who stayed there with her family of four in Feb., so if you have any specific questions about the place, I may be able to answer them based on that testim...

Thanks for the replies. Cal girl, I think I e-mailed Dependable around a week ago, but I sent the e-mail through the Web site link. Maybe somehow they didn't get it or my e-mail address was not entered properly or something. I will try to contact them again. You have good points about the parking in...

Car rental STT vs STJ
I know this has been debated on here before, and I've read some of the posts. I think I like the sound of renting on STT to avoid hauling luggage on the ferries and taking cabs in STT and STJ, and to be able to buy supplies on STT and then have the car for departure day exploring if there's time. Bu...

Coconut Hill Cottage was my another accommodation I was considering for a May 2008 trip, and it lists by owner on a per-night basis. I don't believe there is a minimum number of nights required, but I'm not positive. Sue, the owner, was very responsive and nice in my correspondence with her, so you ...

villa suggestion
We're renting a brand-new home called Island Horizons this May for 5 nights. It is rented by Private Homes for Private Vacations, and in all my research, I've found this is one of the few companies that offers the 5-night minimum with no extra "short-stay" or "cleaning" fees. The...

Coconut Hill Cottage
Erika, we're considering booking this place for May, too, I think right after you. What are your dates? How did you find out the cottage was recently remodeled? Do you happen to know if the pool has a view? How has the owner been to work with so far? Thanks for the info, and I hope you have a great ...
