Daughter's wedding on St. John - cruise ship
Daughter's wedding on St. John - cruise ship
Hello everyone, I'm looking for some guidance. My daugher is planning an October wedding (destination wedding). She is picking a cruise probably in the next couple of weeks and wants to get married on a beach in St. John. She is going thru a travel agent and has already investigated using a cruise ship's "Wedding Planner." I thought there might be someone on St. John that she could hire/contact to take care of the arrangements.
- as another option instead of the cruise ship person. My husband and I have visited St. John 8 times since 2004, so we are somewhat familiar with the island. I estimate there will be 20+ friends and family in attendance. Any advice and guidance would be appreciated - and yes, if it were MY decision, we would ALL travel to St. John, stay in a villa and hav the wedding! But this is her decision - so thank you in advance for your help!

Hi, we were married on St John in 2005 at a villa on Gift Hill, just a thought although you can do a lot of the paperwork for the marriage license over the phone with the office in St Thomas, she will still need to appear in person at the courthouse in CA to finalize everything. This can be a bit of a runaround at times as the Judge needs to sign paper work after it is signed by the bride and groom, sometimes he is there sometimes he is not or is unable to sign, we actually waited about 3 hrs and then returned to St John and came back the next day and finally got it, our wedding planner intimated that this happens quite often. If you are just in port for the day on a cruise this could be cutting it a little close with ferry schedules/time required to be back at the ship etc. Just a thought hope all works out well!

I would contact Anne Marie Porter - she is fabulous and she will let you know all the requirements for getting married in the VI's

If you can't talk her out of the Cruise ship then you may want to consider taking a cruise that leaves from Puerto Rico. It would be fairly simple for her to fly into STT a few days early and take care of the paper work if it is going to be an issue and then fly backt to Puerto Rico to catch the boat with everything set up in advance.
There is also a company called Windstar that departs from Saint Thomas on a windjammer style boat. That would allow her to come in a day or two early do the wedding then go cruising. But I don't think they run from here during Hurricane Season. She does know she is planning this during Hurricane Season?
