Folks who fly out of ATL- need help w/ a park-n-fly hotel!

Post by Gromit »

I know this is kind of off topic but it technically involves our upcoming trip to STJ.

My Aunt and cousin will be leaving from ATL on June 19 to fly to STT.

They live in Birmingham but the tix out of BHAM were ridiculous so I booked them out of ATL for half the price. It's only a two hour drive.

I'd like to find them a decent and cheap little hotel at ATL that offers them a room and parking for 10 days. I want to book a room the night before they leave (June 18) and the night they get back (June 29).

Anyone else do the whole overnight and park thing? If so where do you recommend? Or do any of you stay at a specific chain that offers this kind of package pretty much anywhere? Living in an area with thre major airports this is usually not an issue for us!

I'm looking at various web sites but for whatever reason the whole park and fly details seem somewhat elusive.

Assistance much appreciated!!

I normally use www.parksleepfly when I fly out of Boston, I see they have some fairly cheap rates including parking for Atlanta.

I've also had some success getting better prices by calling the local airport hotels directly.

When I went to Los Cabos at the beginning of Dec., I flew out of LAX and did the park n' fly thing at Embassy Suites. Surely there must be an Embassy Suites in ATL? It was reasonable... $230 I think for a really nice suite (altho' it was only me and I was only there for 1 night) and the parking was SWEEET! Inside under the hotel, well lighted, and near the elevators. I felt it was really secure and didn't worry one little bit! Embassy Suites has a shuttle to and from the airport as well, so it was super simple!

I stay with my best friend who lives in Atlanta, but I will ask him what hotel he recommends.

Frankly, the ATL airport area is a wee bit sketchy, but if you want an upscale hotel, there is a nice Westin right nearby. Airport Park and Ride is $9 a day, but you can probably do better somewhere else. The Parking Spot offers off-site parking, as do several other hotels. I've stayed at a Crowne Plaza one exit up from the airport before - it was fine and they had a lot where you could leave your car.

As I look around I'm getting that sense (the sketchy part -- that is).

Thing is I don't think she wants to spend a bunch of money since they're probably going to spend all of 12 hours at the hotel at each end.

That being said I'll look around for some deals.

Basically I just need a decent, clean hotel room and a safe place for their car.

Everyone... thanks for your help with this!! Your suggestions so far have been great!

Atlanta airport hotel with park and fly packages

Post by Jo&Wally »

We fly to STT a lot and always stay overnight at the Atlanta Airport before we leave since the flight out of Atlanta is in the am. We always stay at the Marriot Renaissance which is right at the airport and they offer a ten day parking package. This is one of the few nice and clean and safe airport hotels that offer 10 day parking most of the others offer 7 days. Marriot has another Hotel on Best Rd at the Atlanta airport that we do stay at sometimes if we only need 7 days or the rate is a lot better. I know the weekend rate is usually a lot cheaper than the weekday rate but most of the nice hotels at the airport are about the same amount. If you go to the Marriott website and put in under the promo code
PKF which stands for Park and Fly and your dates you should be able to see the availability and rate

Hey Jo&Wally! Was that the Renassaince Concourse you referenced? We stayed there the night before flying out of ATL back in May, and it was very nice.

They have some rooms with balconies that face the runway, so you can sit on the balcony and watch planes take off and land. Very cool... But you have to request those. It was also very cheap at around $90 for that night, plus we were able to leave the car and take their shuttle to the airport ... BUT that was a Sunday night. Its mostly a business traveler's hotel, so the rates are higher during the week. We asked about staying the night we returned, a Thursday, but the rate was more than double for a weeknight.

Park and Fly from ATL

Post by melwill530 »

Whe we lived in B'ham we did this all the time. Atlanta was always cheaper than flying out of our international (haha  - no customs office)airport in Birmingham. We stayed at the DoubleTree hotel in Atlanta. I think I saw some advertised specials for there today. They were safe, clean, and relatively cheap. Cheaper than parking at the airport. They had a shuttle to the airport and did not have a problem with us parking there while we were on our trips. We also stayed at the Drury Inn. It was cheaper but the parking lot much smaller and not as secure. Doubletree has a larger lot that is not as accessible. Hope this is helpful to you!
