Tanned & Tanked Tour June 19-29, 2009

Post by Gromit »

Well, my BFF Flip Flop surprisd me with a Christmas present of personalized koozies for our upcoming combined family visit to STJ this coming June.

Being the marketing guru that she is she came up with the name "Tanned & Tanked Tour 2009"

Look out kids! We will be terroizing the island in true Gromit & Flip Flop fashion -- as only we know how.

AND if Vicki decides to join us we're pretty certain that the power of three may be an event from which the island may never recover!

Last night Flip Flop and I gathered for our bi-weekly Toes & Moo night(i.e. Pedicures followed by dinner at Outback) and began considering the possibilities for our 10 day adventure in Happy Land.

Yes, we follow our own advice and will begin developing an itinerary that we may -- or may not -- follow.

We even considered -- hold onto your speedos -- being COOLER PEOPLE this time around considering the number of folks, groupies, roadies on this particular three hour tour.

A couple of things:

1) The hubbies are interested in doing a night dive during the trip -- so if you're interested in joining in on the fun with them I think we need at least a couple more people in order to get either Low Key or Chris Sawyer to schedule it.

2) I'm condsidering a boat trip out to Virgin Gorda for the day. I'd be open to folks from the forum who might be interested in sharing the trip. I am considering "Bad Kitty" thru Calypso. Might be fun to get forum folks together.

If you think you might be interested and will be on island June 20-25 (days we would consider a charter)
let me know!!

Plans are pretty fluid right now so I'll keep folks posted as details develop...

Stay Tuned!!

Well, I should definitely be on island during the same time. I'm hoping for 2 weeks (June 20- July 4).

The only problem is, I'll have my 10 year old who I don't allow to drink. And he turns red instead of tans, so I may need to watch out for the Tanned and Tanked girls! I'll probably pass on the above mentioned activities, but would love to meet this infamous duo!

I will be there from the 11th to 20th so maybe we will see you the 19th. I'd love to go on a night dive, but I guess that won't work either. :(

Uh-oh, I might be there as well. We're considering going for our 7th anniversary (June 29th). We might end up going a week or so later though. I'll keep you posted. I'm always up for a day trip to Virgin Gorda.

Gromit, forumite Cypressgirl and myself are looking at 6/16 - 6/23. Things are only in the planning phase at this point, but if it works out, we'd love to partake in a group daysail or get together of some kind. Happy New Year! Ali~

I want to go to Virgin Gorda Gromit......
I am still figuring out when we are coming.
My friend is in school and she has 7 weeks so she may not be able to take time off like she did in Nov.
So maybe I would come earlier and do 10 days if possible.
I could do 1 week on STJ and 3 days at Ivans.
Keep us posted on this list.

I bet Vicki will come...........I have a good feeling about it and then OMG............
crazy time will be had by all!!!lol

Sounds good folks....

Looks like Bad Kitty needs a minimum of 15 to make it a "private" charter. Here's the link to their site: http://www.calypsovi.com/kitty.html

I've got 5 definitely in my crew -- FF may consider coming along with her crew but it just depends on the mini flip flop and mini-est flip flop.

But I'm thinking with this board we could easly get another 10 people for a good time. A forumite gathering like that would ROCK!!

I've e-mailed Calypso and asked them for financial details (cost pp etc) .

I'll also ask if they'll allow me to bring the Jell-O!!!! (Shots that is!)

Anyone else who might be interested?

Just askin'....

Well, if Flip-Flop might bring a kid or two, I might bring a kid and husband. Let me know. I don't want my 10 year old spoiling any parties  . He'd have just as much fun on the beach, but I think I might have more fun with you!

I/we might be interested in going - it depends on the day and hubby's work schedule :)

Bad Kitty is a great boat - very smooth and fast - good choice :)

Hey Pia et al. -- that was going to be my next question ... Has anyone else used "Bad Kitty"?

The thing about going to VG is it's a haul and it seemed because they are faster that we can get there and make a few more stops if so desired.

Seriously, I'm thinking with some general interest from folks this is totally do-able.

And it will be nice to be on board with extended forum family rather than a bunch o' strangers (not that I'm anti-social or anything!).

I heard back from Calypso and from what they said initially it looks like the price is still $145 pp + $25 for customs fees and folks are responsible for their own lunch money.

The only other twist according to them is there's a 15% gratuity automatically added to a private charter. I think kids are slightly less.

This is a decent sized boat with plenty of space inside that's safe for the kiddos.

I think FF may be more interested if someone else was also bringing youngster-- although for the other grown ups on board I think keeping the young one's to a minimum would be best. But three would work.

Anyway, I'm still waiting for clarification from Calypso.

Seriously though -- this is workable!

Stay tuned!

My friend works for Bad Kitty (he checks everyone in in the morning of your trip) and when he took a charter to Jost it took 12 mins :)

OK so -- here's the deal from Calypso.

It's basically $167 per person plus $25 customs fees and whatever you want to spend on lunch along the way. That's all inclusive.

For that they will take us to Virgin Gorda (times from 7:30 to 4:00 pm) with a few stops along the way as outlined on their web site.

Also included is (directly from their e-mail):

We provide Captain and Crew, Continental Breakfast (Assorted Breakfast Breads and Sliced Fresh Fruit)

Open Bar (Beers, Wine, Painkillers, Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Champagne, Vodka, Gin, Rum, Juices, Sodas and Water.)

Snorkel gear and instructions.

So, what does everyone think?

Ideally, I'd like to keep the group close to 15-16 people but I'm flexible.

I'll check back with folks in a few weeks to see who's serious and we can take things from there.

I think this would be a blast.

The only thing we'll need to work out (besides who's coming) is how to pay these guys. But we can work that out.

Where there's a will, there's a way!

That's awesome! Normally getting to VG is such a pain and you feel like your time on VG is so short.

But that rocks!!

Looks like their usual itinerary is:

Spanishtown
Baths
Cooper Island (which is pretty cool)
and then the Indians or Caves. (I'd be more game for the Caves on this one having done the Indians several times).
Last stop is Soggy Dollar

Although I'm thinking we could modify the itinerary a bit if folks aren't interested in all these stops.

Does this still sound interesting to folks in terms of cost and itinerary?
