Virgin Gorda Adventure and Trip Report
This year's Caribbean adventure was on Virgin Gorda, which we found to be an absolute gem of an island. The beaches are wild, deserted and undamaged. We identified more sea-life than any previous year. The link below is to our web site, which includes a trip report and many pictures from this trip. The trip report starts by reviewing beaches & restaurants and gives tips on underwater photography. It was a perfect vacation.

Thanks for posting your report. I haven't read the report portion yet because I always go for the pics first! Question...in photo 022 called 'chickens roosting' there is a beautiful building in the distance with plantation like verandah. Do you know what that is? Just wondering if it is an inn.
Looking fording to reading your reports. The pics are great!

Just finished the report. Great job! I very much want to get to know VG better. We have only taken day trips in the past. I'm going to print out your snorkling list for future reference.
Re: The Indians. I hope you get a chance to revisit The Indians on a calm day. It really is a dramatic site and the day we were there the water was crystal clear. It is deep so if the visibility is not great you would miss a lot. Thanks so much for sharing your trip! Hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home.

Thanks for the report. We spent a week on VG last year and covered some of the same terrain. We really loved it and will go back, although I wish I had some idea when.
Agent---the view you asked about is from the Mineshaft restaurant (which we also love). The story we were told about the giant house is that it's a private home build by a local man who owns one of the gas stations. The photo doesn't do it justice. It's massive and interferes with the sunset view. The owners of Mineshaft were rather annoyed that their spectacular sunset view had been disrupted by someone's wish for a huge house. There aren't many homes like that on VG and if one is going to be built, what are the chances it'll be built between you and the sunset.

Thanks Lex. At first glance I hoped it was some 18th century gem, restored and operating as an inn, with a fascinating history and perhaps a ghost or two. I do get carried away sometimes.
I suppose that it's better that a local built it than a "blow in". It's my understanding that the BVI has made it very difficult for anyone but "belongers" to purchase land. Hopefully that will preserve the quiet nature of the islands a bit longer.
