We're home and had an amazing St. John vacation!

Post by Berkfamily »

Well, after all those months of planning our trip has come and gone...all too quickly! I took copius notes all week and will be putting a trip report together soon. Our highlights were Orchid Villa (what amazing views), the Reef Bay Trail (without the NPS) and Salt Pond. We ate all around St. John and the best by all accounts was Sweet Plantains. Now the drive back to the villa over Centerline Road in the dark was an experience  , but one not to be missed!

Thanks everyone for all your pre-trip advice. Caribbean Villas (thanks Sean and Derek!) was fabulous, and we had absolutely no problems with Paris Car Rental. And the weather..well if you count raining in the middle of the night raining, it rained every day. We don't! So except for Friday the 29th when we left, we didn't have a bad day all week.

I will get to the details after the laundry and the kids' New Years plans are settled.

Happy New Year everyone!

It sounds like you had great weather and a wonderful time. Can't wait for the trip report. I'm to scared to eat dinner over in Coral Bay because of that drive. We would love to try the restaurants but I barely make the roads in the am. Get to typing!!!

Ya, we were scared of the Coral Bay night drive until we spent a week at Maho Bay Campground and did it by necessity. I'd call it a 5 beer drive. Centerline Road is pretty tame and has a few lights. There are some bloody dark spots above Reef Bay. Hey, observe the 20mph speed limit and you're cool. It's worth it for dinner at Shipwreck Landing.

But, if you had too much fun, watch the gendarmes at the turnoff to Gift Hill Road! Though, they do not seem to work nights.

Hey WontonGirl, watchya got behind that fan? Tan lines?!

Cheers, RickG

Berkfamily - glad all is well with you and that your trip was awesome. We'll have to compare notes and see if we were at the same places on any of the days!

HNY!!!

I wish I had tan lines behind that fan! Just got off the phone with Cindy and Paco. She called to wish us a happy new year because I had inquired about a week in May. She also told me bongo is now available for Thanksgiving week. You would have to be out by Nov 24 because that is when we get there. I think we are getting le'Espirit....for May.-its only available for 6 nights so we are going to stay over in STT the other night I think. Villa Capiz was booked. If this works out, we will be there which bunches of yall are there.
