SOTB II - Day 4

Post by jayseadee »

Well, one thing different about this years trip, we couldn't bribe Sea-Nile into writing the whole Trip Report

So, here's my perspective of Day 4 - Monday

One of the things I love about vacation, is being able to sleep in and not have to set an alarm clock. Normally, that means getting up at 8 or 9am, but this week, I was wide awake by 6am. I think it was just the excitement - kind of like a kid on Christmas morning!

I got up and started the coffee, then just stood and enjoyed the view (and the quiet).

Eventually, everyone else started moving.

Despite the number of cruise ships in port (3 I think), we decide to head to Trunk Bay. This my most favorite beach on the island - maybe because it was my first. Sea-nile, Maggy and I were ready to roll so we left ahead of the others. We all wanted to stop at the overlook and take the required pictures:

Ahhhhh!! This never gets old.

We got back into the car and pulled into the lot - not too crowded yet. We went toward the right and found a nice spot to set up SOTB camp. Along the way we found a few more favorite spots.

We started snorkeling toward the trail. Visibility wasn't great, but there were lots of fish around. We even saw a turtle at one point. My UW photography skills aren't very good, so hopefully someone else will post some good pics - I try (excuse - it was a new camera, ohhh, and it DIED on Day 7 )

And let me mention, Maggy is a Fish-clopedia. She can identify just about any fish you'll encounter in St. John waters.

It wasn't too long before the rest of the group found us.

We swam, sippied, snorkeled and socialized. The cruisers came and went!

We eventually left and headed back to the villa. Sea-nile, Maggy and I stopped at Starfish replenish stock.

Since there were no volunteers to cook  , we were off to the Banana Deck for dinner.

We enjoyed bushwackers, Mango Daiquiris, and Lime and Coconuts (Lime and Coconut was the un-official drink of SOTB II). Mahi Sandwiches seemed to be the dinner of choice (and for sea-nile, it was the lunch and breakfast of choice, too). Sorry no food porn.

After dinner, some of us strolled over to Woody's for Bushwachers, Carib's and souveneirs. Then we were off to Pink Papaya to shop for the ornament exchange. Sybil scored a beautiful painted shell for her collection. We bumped into the D.N.A group and chatted for awhile, then it was off to the Beach Bar for a night cap.

When we got back to the villa, just about everyone retired and I stayed up to catch some of the Patriots/Colts game. For such a fan, I didn't last very long.

It was a WICKED great Monday!

Stay tuned for Tuesday - diving, Honeymoon gathering, and Margarita Phils

Thanks to all you girls for sharing these reports. I have to admit, ya'll are way cooler than I'll ever be...sharing a villa with a bunch of people from all over the place, some you hardly know. Too cool.
Seriously, I admire all of you for your bravery!
Great reports too....cheers!

GREAT JOB Jayseadee!
Here is another shot from that day and by the way it is my favorite beach too, cliche or not. My family has been instructed to spread my ashes here...

Did you lose your Flip-flops,Ksea?
I think that those are mine. I brought 5 pair, which was WAY too many and they look like my blue pair. I didn't bring any non-familiar ones home.

Good job Jayseadee! Very nice pictures and it feels good to dream yourself back to this beautiful beach. I agree, it's hard to beat Trunk bay in beauty!
