Yay! We're booked for May
Yay! We're booked for May
We spent a lot of "quality time" on the AA.com website this weekend and finally got our May trip booked. It takes a lot of work these days to get free tickets for exactly the dates/flights you want.
We used double miles and are going business class
(I LOVE it!) but have to leave from BWI going down which is much further for us, but it avoided 3 hops or an undesireable schedule. So...its BWI-SJU-STT arriving at 4:30pm and STT-JFK-DCA coming back.
We looked at millions of villas before finally deciding on Coconuts with Caribbean Villas. Well, OK, it was less than that, but it felt like a million. We get this thing where we want to look at every possible choice before deciding. We have a list of must-haves and analyze each one for its pros and cons. Yes, I know its overkill, but I actually like doing that until it eats up so much time, we just make a decision.
We wanted to stay at Orion's Hill but it was booked most of May. So fess up - I'll bet its someone on the forum who has it.
We stayed at Coconuts on our first visit to STJ a few years ago. It has a deck with wonderful views across to STT, A/C in bedrooms and a private pool. Our favorite thing is the gazebo with comfy table/chairs and couch. We loved having our meals there (I need shade), watching the birds and the boat traffic back and forth across the channel. At night, sitting by candlelight and watching the lights on STT was nice. We like the Gifft Hill location for popping into town and getting onto Centerline to head to the beaches.
Now the only problem is May seems sooo far away!
Thanks to so many on the forum who take the time to post, especially trip reports. It provides great entertainment as well as good info for trip planning.

Congratulations! What dates are you going in May? We will be there the 9th thru the 23rd (well, nothing is booked yet but I will make it happen - been waiting for lower airfare). We do the same thing with the villa - it's fun at first, then gets frustrating and then, you're just happy to have a choice
Now, you just need a ticker.

We're going May 10-22. My hubby already asked if there was going to be a forum gathering. We missed the one last time we were on STJ because there was torrential rain, the roads were like rivers and we didn't want to drive from Coral Bay (stayed at BayView) to Cruz Bay.
The person at Caribbean Villas said that Coconuts has been sold. We were sorry that we didn't have an extra million dollars sitting around so we could buy it. The new owners have recovered the furniture in the living room and the gazebo, so it sounds like they might he sprucing it up some.
I don't know how to have a ticker.
I'll bet if I search on the forum I can figure it out.
