Taking Election Day OFF?
Taking Election Day OFF?
On The Chosen One's website, he's now urging people to ask their boss for the day off on election day. The video below says "You Can't Make History Here", referencing a cubicle.
No sir, but I can make money there - and I need to make as much as I can prior to January 20 2009.
Maybe if he wins, he will adopt November 2 as a National Holiday? This guy is really full of himself, am I the only one who sees that?

Um, not all. But yeah, I am a fan of Drudge. What's great about Drudge is that he takes articles/columns from many different sources, including the most far left (ie the NYT's, LAT's, CNN, NBC, etc...was goung to say MSNBC, but really, does anybody take them seriously?).
Didn't read that on Drudge this morning though (well I have now that you mentioned it)...No, I was actually on the Obama website playing with his tax calculator that someone left the link to over on the other political thread.
Let me go Katie Couric on you, Flip: "What publications do you read to get your information?"

Sox – to you and others who firmly believe that Obama is so inexperienced; an elitist; someone who consorts with terrorists and haters of America; full of himself; Socialist; etc. etc. (I lose track after awhile of all the labels) and we’ll be risking Armageddon if he is elected, then don't you ask yourself this question:
How in the world are we losing (maybe) to THIS guy?
Besides the whining we’ll hear about usual suspects i.e. the media is in the tank for Obama, voter fraud, Obama has more money than God, etc. etc. - if you can step back and be objective for a second, are you genuinely pleased with the way McCain’s campaign has been run? Or, do you think that they've done nothing wrong regarding their tactics and strategy, and just scratch your head and say why isn't everybody else getting it?

Many people have always taken election day off to help their party; either at the polls, on the phones, or transporting those that need assistance.
This will be the first election day that I have not taken off in a very long time. I am involved in an important project at work that I need to wrap up, so I will not be able to help and I will miss that participation, but I will be at the polls after work with my sign and my support.
Asking people to help the party on election day is not new or different. I do not see him asking people to be active in the party as being full of himself at all. There is nothing selfish about asking people to be involved.

Yeah, well, I don't remember any of them making public pleas for their supporters to take the day off work to do so.loria wrote:last i heard McCain's people were out there knocking on doors as well...hmmm and BUshes folks did it, as did Kerry's and GOres and the legions before them.....so i don't see your point.
Presumably half the voting public favors Obama. Now, I realize many of Obama's supporters don't work, but is it really wise in this economy to ask that many people to take the day off work?
I mean, I know "this is the time we've been waiting for, people of Berlin, citizens of the world"...But this is crazy.

JMG,
Just to jump in...and hopefully help launch another great thread re-hashing exactly the same written thoughts..) How are we losing to "this guy"......by all the rhetoric of the far left stating that ALL REPUBLICANS EQUAL BUSH. Isn't that the real theme of the democratic party? Everyone associated with the GOP is in bed with George Bush and is there for the reason the whole world is in crisis.
I tell you what...lets just put a "new" face out there...claim he is only about change.....and see if we can win!
My personal believe is that I had more leadership experience as a 2LT than Obama has today. He has never had to lead a group across the street....he has never had to worry about the safety, health, well being and futures of any group. Now we are going to ask him to do it for 300 Million?
Really?
Hey I wish the ticket I could vote for out of these four was Biden/Palin….I think that would be the best grouping of these four ….but it isn’t. So I am going with McCain….as the best option available. (Thankfully, my wife is Canadian…and can’t vote because she would cancel my vote out if she could.)

The Obama campaign also came up with this gem. "The Talk". He's asking kids to talk to their parents about why they're not voting for Obama. That's fine, except that in the Obama's "Do's and Don't" for this "Talk", the Obama campaign writes:
"Don’t worry about knowing everything about policy positions before you have this conversation"
And, they produced this video...Seriously, the girl in braces can't be more than 14 years old.

All I will say is that the opinions I share here are my own. Crafted after much thought and personal experience. What you have not heard from me is a repeat of campaign ads, rally soundbites, and what is posted on Huffington. Its not my style and not how I operate.
And not what I believe in many cases.
I don't do talking points, I do independent thought.
I would never label myself as an independent because that would be disingenious. I line up with the democratic party most of the time, but I disagree with the radical left as much as I disagree with the radical right. I don't buy Obama = Socialist/Ayers/Terrorist anymore than I buy that because McCain took contributions from G. Gordon Liddy and was on his talk show makes him anti-American or a supporter of terrorists.
McCain is after all the one calling for buying up bad mortgages from banks and renegotiating with home owners giving them a new lower principle and better terms. This came out of his mouth at one of the debates (#2 I think if you want to watch it for yourself). We (the collective taxpaying we) paying a premium and the holder of the new more favorable home loan 1) gets rewarded for a really bad decision and 2) gets to reap the benefit of their increased home value when it goes back up, as it will. How is that NOT redistribution? And here goes my favorite word again ... hypocrisy.
