Have we lost communications?

Post by Marcia (Mrs. Pete) »

Have not heard anything live from STJ/STT for at least an hour...

I know saving battery life for cells, etc, is important now but, can someone give us a live update?

Should one of us call the Beach Bar and ask for Ruth or just ask Boo how things are going?

Someone do that and report back! I don't have their number.

It's raining and the wind is picking up a little bit, but nothing crazy yet. It's just like a normal rain shower in the VI at the moment. If I didn't know what was causing the rain, i wouldn't think anything about it. But, since I do know, it's starting to worry me. Jay is still not back yet from helping his co-workers, so no hurricane party yet. It would be sad to drink alone. :)

Just curious, mrscaptainjay, but I noticed a lot of empty spaces in Chocolate Hole Bay and Cruz Bay,.....where do they take the boats to ride out the storm?

Not an expert on this. Jay could probably answer this better. But this is what I've been told: On STT: Benner Bay, Mandahl Pond, Flamingo Bay; on STJ: Hurricane Hole.

Mostly Hurricane Hole. Some of the smaller boats they just take out of the water. Several in Cruz Bay were taken out. Since the ferry wasn't running today, I know a few of the powerboats were doing water taxi to STT.

As long as WAPA stays up ... there are four webcams on island that are sending video.

I wish I had a camera with a zoom lense so I could show you the waves that are coming in the harbor on STT. The waves are crashing on Frenchmans Reef point and the rock in the middle of the harbor (can't remember what it's called - the hurricane drink must be getting to me :D )

The rain is just a drizzle now and there is no wind.
