It is literally the calm before the storm right now. Light breezes and no rain right now. It is definitely looking like we made a good decision putting up the shutters and filling the diesel and water tanks. We will try to keep everyone posted as long as the internet connection hangs in there.

Looking at the weather radar out of San Juan, it appears rain should be in STJ momentarily. Good luck to all of you. Keep us posted to best of your ability.
pj and I have next door neighbors who are on island this week. We have not heard from them, but I'm sure their parents have.
Best wishes to all.

rain started about 5 min ago. The wind is picking up slightly. I can already hear our cistern over flowing so that's going to continue for the next several days. The university decided to close for the next two days so that is a relief.

That's alright Ruth, I was supposed to catch a 7:30 AM charter flight to Fajardo in the morning to lead a group of five boats back for the start of the charter season. That's not going to happen either. Stay safe.

They are calling for a 3 to 6 foot storm surge and 10 to 12 foot waves on the south shore of STT and STJ. That will put water in the stores on Waterfront and in the office at CYOA.

Ruth - I'll be putting sailboats in the pool tomorrow morning and I'm guessing one good gust will send us to Jost anyway. Come on over...
Seriously, we heard from our management company and they encouraged us to go the the Westin as it will be accepting guests and they have a generator. But our plans are to stay put. Our dinner guests this evening were Coral Bay boat people and one is staying on his boat and the other isn't. Word is that the Coral Bay gas station is out - we filled our tank yesterday. The seriousness of the situation now seems to be on everyone's mind and it looks like we'll still have tomorrow morning to make last minute preps before the worst is on us. It occurred to me this evening that I need to remove the fan blades on our outdoor fans. That's a morning job along with putting the last of the deck furniture indoors. It's been raining lightly this evening and the breezes are light as well. Still hoping (selfishly of course) that the center of the storm passes to the east. It looks to be a close call at this point. I now live for the NHC updates.
