Post by Anthony »

I have to admit, I am not reading much of what is going on over here - but - I have gotten a lot of requests from people who wish it would stop. Anyway, what I am trying to say is that while it is great to discuss this kind of stuff, can we please keep it civil, respect each others opinions, and ignore what we don't like? I don't want to sound like my head is in the sand - I have my own beliefs - but I just never feel comfortable pontificating on stuff like this in places like this (and I really can't - I mean I am supposed to be moderating this thing). Like I said, it is the off topic forum, but if you really want to talk politics, I would really prefer you use a political blog/forum to do it.

I guess I am just asking - please don't make this place a politicized, angry, combative, name calling place. People come here to talk about their love for the Virgin Islands and things related. They can get all the political stuff other places. We will all have our say on November 4th and that is what really matters, right?

PEACE!

Anthony

HERE, HERE!!!
I've just stopped opening the hostile threads, and I think many of us are of the same mindset. It'll burn out soon.

Which reminds me of a joke that I got yesterday:

IMPORTANT GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT!

Due to the rising costs of gas, oil and electricity, the light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Thanks Anthony! This is precisely the reason I have stopped posting. We all have opinions but don't need to voice them on the VIOL Forum.

Thank you Anthony. I just stopped reading those threads altogether. The personal attacks were getting me to riled up and I just don't need that in my life right now. I have plenty of that kind of thing going on with four teen-aged kids, I don't need to add to it. :)

Thanks Anthony!

It is clear that we cannot have a civil discussion on the issues on this board. It is too bad that many are not able to hear another point of view (I will include myself in that), because there is just too much at stake in this election. The choice between socialism and capitalism is clear.

This is still the greatest St. John forum on the web, Anthony. Thanks for providing this spot.

I would like to comment on that, but in the words of my hero Michael Jackson, "I'm a lover not a fighter."

Anthony,

I appreciate your comments and that this, in the end, is your sandbox. I agree that we should try to play nice in it.

With that said, I do like this off-topic side of the forum. Personally, while I disagree with Soxfan and others who share his opinions, I think it is interesting to hear them. And, when people hold strong beliefs, their opinions often are expressed strongly. Speaking only for myself, I am an adult and can take it. If I don't want to take it, I won't read the thread or post on the thread.

Thank you for giving all of us a place where we can function as one, disfunctional family.

That's funny man - that was the McCartney duo, right?

For me, it never really got any better than "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough".

I'm with you...I thought that we could be our normal, obnoxious selves over here.

So, in the spirit of getting along, I just want to say, Jorge, that I think you are beautiful...in a manly way, of course.

Hey, hey, hey...be nice. This is now the kinder, gentler off-topic forum.
