Silly Coffee Question

Post by Taylor »

I will be traveling with a crazy Starbucks addict. Where is the best coffee/espresso joint in Coral Bay?

Thanks,
T.

oh this made me laugh! the best place would be your own villa. pack a grinder (or rent a villa with one) and stop at St John Spice and pick out your fix for the week! Your travel companion will be satisfied :)

Can Ruth grind it for you if your villa doesn't have one?

We bring our own as most of our crowd prefers New Orleans coffee with chickory.

If they must have Starbucks brand, bring down a bag of it and brew it in the villa.

I have gotten iced coffee two summers ago at a place across from Stafish, but I didn't check to see if it was there on our last trip as we brought our own.

St John Spice has wonderful coffee! We have them ship it to us in Philly we love it so much! It's the one with Voodoo in it - yum!

Hi Taylor and welcome to the forum :)

You must be a "newbie" to St John - no espresso joint in Coral Bay but you can get a cup of coffee for breakfast at Donkey Diner :)

Taylor, welcome to the board and questions about coffee are not silly!

Hubby and I NEED our morning coffee and while not snobs, need decent coffee. We always ask the villa agency if there's a grinder in the house just so we know. Maybe bring some Starbucks with you if it's the brand that's important, but try some from St. John Spice (in the first building on your right when you step off the ferry dock) too.

Might not be espresso, but man, that morning coffee out on the deck watching the island wake up with you... it doesn't get better than that.

Nothintolose - I too order coffee sometimes from the Cafe duMond. That is some strong coffee, but I have to say it does not taste as good in Ohio as it tastes New Orleans! (Or is it because the Beignets are missing? Or is it some voodoo?) I don't know - but it tastes better down south!

I have to sit on my deck and watch the boats with my morning cup of coffee too. That's probably my favorite part of the day.

We're just getting ours from St. John Spice. They can grind the beans. I asked Ruth.

Yes, St John Spice has fabulous coffee but if you need Starbucks, Starfish (the grocery store) sells 1lb bags that you can grind at your villa :)

We make 2 pots in the morning and put one in a pitcher in the fridge. I am a coffee junkie and I like to bring iced coffee to the beach with me.

Kiss of the jumbie from STJ Spice is delicous iced!

We roast our own at home and bring it pre-ground with us on the plane. The luggage smells very good!

Some villas have manual espresso machines with milk frothers. I love my cafe au lait!

Cheers, RickG

Here is a really good recipe/method of making iced coffee.

Every Ting at Gallows Point has the best coffee in Cruz Bay.

In the old days well before Starfish, we used to bring down a cooler of stuff that was mostly unavailble on STJ, frozen juices, good coffee, some meats, even some frozen veggies that the kids liked. With such good grocers now, we only pack one item from home-coffee-packed in a couple of ziplocked bags.
