What do you do after planning is done???

Post by jdw »

Everything is booked: villa (Sol Inclination), flights (Delta using FF miles) and jeep (four door Wrangler through Bougainvillea). Now, what in the world am I going to do for the next eight months????

I guess I will just read trip reports and take notes and hope time passes by very quickly!

One thing we are still trying to decide: the restaurant where we will celebrate our 25th anniversary. We have narrowed it down to Asolare or the buffet at Caneel - welcome any suggestions/comments.

Thanks!

Welcome to my world!! I think this board is the only reason we can all survive between trips!

I like Asolare as well (love the Hemingway-esque atmosphere)-- but you may also want to consider ZoZo's or even hiring a private chef to prepare dinner for you at the Villa. Just a couple of other ideas.

I have 88 days to go and I am DYING!!!!! Seriously, I've got press releases to do and projects to begin and all I can think about is STJ!!!!

Ugh....

We are all set for May 2009 also. We are renting Villa Carolina which we rented previously, so we did not have to go thru the "search", but I do check out all the villas that are mentioned, for "next time".

I keep a folder for our trip with all the important stuff and add any little gems that I always find on this informative forum. Every once in a while, as I reading the board every day, I will respond to someone and that way I get to see my ticker which is always exciting.

Major part of the fun is the countdown!

My press releases are finished (although I do have some posters to design), and my trip to STJ is not wrapped up (might change car companies again. lol), so here I am!

EBags says me new roller bag will be here tomorrow, so I might seriously pack since it looks like summer in Tennessee is on its tail end. I just want to be done with everything so I can stop worrying and just look at Trip Reports and get excited.

OK – here’s what you do:
1. Light a coconut scented candle to get things rolling.
2. Line up all the Rum bottles in a row.
3. Turn on the blender and get that Whirling Sound firmly in your head.
4. Get the steel pan music blaring from the speakers.
5. Walk around the house in Flip Flops – not to be confused with “The Flip Flop”.
6. Put up Island Pictures all over the house – so that at every turn you see that beautiful water.
7. Remember the blender – it’s time to make a rum drink.
8. Grab your “Better Half” and dance like there’s no tomorrow.
9. Keep repeating until “Departure Day”.

Oh crap – I’m not even going and I think I’ll do this tonight.

Plan another trip. And make sure to book Asolare overlooking the STT sunset - very romantic.
When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

Make my list of things to see that I've somehow missed in the previous trips & COUNT THE DAYS!

Searching for every trip report anywhere is the way I seem to spend my time before a trip. For some reason I thought you were headed down this fall. I haven't been to Asolare, but I agree with the previous person who suggested a chef at the villa. With that amazing villa, the perfect way to spend an anniversary would be to enjoy being served a delicious meal by someone else! Happy early 25th!!

1. Check this forum 20 times a day (more than that for the mega-obsessed!)
2. Read On-St-John blog
3. Look at the webcam and wish I was there
3. Check out online STJ restaurant menus and pick every single thing you are going to eat once you get there
4. Search for YouTube and Flickr STJ videos and photos
5.Check the Tradewinds online to see what's happening on-island
6. Shop for STJ trip-related supplies: Polar Bear coolers, new cameras, Otterboxes, Keens/Tevas, snorkel equipment, etc.
7. Drink lots of rum drinks

...and the list can go on and on!

I did love that bag, but I found this Jansport bag that caught my eye. I know that Jansport's have a pretty good warranty, and this bag was one that I'll be able to find on a luggage carousel, so I decided to get it. They are having a HUGE Jansport sale on Ebags, and I got it for 75% off or something ridiculous like that!
