Trip Report 7/13 - Day 4

Post by greyhoundmom »

Up at 6:00 AM. First order of the day was looking for Capt. Dan's life line - couldn't find waterproof pouch with government ID, credit cards, and all the money for 2 weeks. Everyone was in panic mode for about an hour, turning over every imaginable thing, finally (I'm kissing my self) GHM turns over cushion on upstairs loveseat and wah-lah, there's the whole package! Sis-in-law, Cindy, is doing the happy dance and I think I deserve a finder's fee! I have a new name for Capt. Dan, DABIL, we contiued to call him DABIL for the remainder of the trip (Dumb Ass Brother In Law). It was a wine induced late night, stumble to bed, leave your money somewhere? moment. Hey, it happens and it could have been any one of us!

Arrived Salt Pond at 8:00 AM. It was Sunday morning and as we are snorkeling close to shore, amazing Sunday church service choir from nearby singing that old spiritual, Wade In The Water. I was humming that through my snorkel for 30 minutes, so caught up in the moment! We saw amazing, huge stingrays, turtles and starfish. A strange occurence was a guy in a small boat who zipped up to the shore, hopped out and hurridly filled up two buckets with beach sand and sped away - so weird, we were watching our stuff on the beach, thinking what is he doing? Ate lunch, we were the only people there. The guys and sis-in-law hiked to Drunk Bay to make an erectile man. GHM enjoying the groove of being the only one on the beach decided to chill. Left Salt Pond at 12:30, back to Orion's, chill time and ready for Beach Bar. Interesting trying to find people, left message with band to announce, "any forum people here?" Everyone in bar saying, who are forum people? Finally started walking beach asking if there were forum people, met Cosmo Lady and family, Rhonda and Morgan from Dallas, hung around for about an hour, group getting hungry, left to search out dinner, became self-absorbed in food and drink, didn't make it back to Beach Bar. I see from forum pictures that Ruth and Anthony showed up later and darn, I really wanted to see them! I guess we came too early and didn't stay late enough. Maybe next year?

Tomorrow - Cruz Bay and Low Key Dive

Mary, you can do this! If I can, anyone can (and believe me, I've been challenged!). Look at my previous post entitled, Hep Me, Hep Me. Mary Beth walked me through the process. Enjoyed talking to you so much at BB! Hope you are well.

We were there a few weeks after you and saw the same thing at Salamon - a guy came up to shore in a small boat, filled two buckets with beach sand and then sped away. I'll have to show my husband you picture to see if it was the same guy. I was in the water without my glasses on, so it was a bit blurry.

Way to go GHM for saving DABIL's vacation! Now he is forever (at least the remainder of vaca) in your debt!
Too funny - I enjoy TRs with humor.

Perhpas the sand guy is building a beach? How odd! :?:

Looking forward to the next installment . . .

Enjoying your trip reports & pictures. I am impressed that you were able to do individual pictures. I finally gave up & put the web site. We enjoyed meeting you & your family at the Beach Bar. I am ready to go back but guess I will have to wait until next summer. Looking forward to more reports.

Nice pictures, thanks for posting them. You are correct, the wallet thing could happen to anyone, and has happened to us (beloved spouse)also. Luckily all was good and wallet not left neglected on a table in a bar somewhere! (Which really is always a valid fear!)

Capt. Kirk, yes the java on the upstairs deck in the morning was frickin' amazing. What about the huge tree with the hundreds of Pearly Eyed Thrashers eating those white berries! Those birds are crazy!
