Cousin's trip report - day 4
Ah, St. John on a Sunday. Don't get me wrong, I love St. Thomas, but it's so nice to go visit St. John. This was an early day (well early for some people), but Angie and Patti did very well getting up and getting ready so that we could catch the ferry and pick up our rental car at a decent time.

We used Varlack Ventures. They were very nice to deal with and the first one that would take a one day rental.

We stopped at JJ's for breakfast and then headed out. Angie was still limping along, but being "Super T" she was hanging in there.

Of course we stopped for all the obligatory scenery shots. I love taking newbies to St. John. The views are so spectacular and I love watching their expressions when they take it all in.

Our first stop was Maho. It just sounded like a good idea. While we were there we bumped into Mike Mullen of Keep Left. It was fun to finally meet him after reading his book and several emails back and forth. We hung out there for awhile and broke out the cooler. By the way, it was a holiday weekend for Puerto Rico, if you couldn't tell by the number of boats in the bay.

We headed out in pursuit of Skinny Legs. Of course we made a couple stops along the way.

...smoothie anyone?

Finally made it to Skinny Legs. We chowed on some burgers (yummy!!) and some cocktails.

Angie and Patti were fascinated by all the "wild" life on St. John....donkeys, chickens, goats, it was too funny.

We ended the afternoon at Trunk Bay. Jay and I have a family pass, but they wouldn't let Angie and Patti in on my pass. There was only a couple hours left and I thought it was silly to spend the money to get in, but the idea of showers before the beach bar was too good not to go in. So we hung out on the beach for an hour or so and took a nap, then showers. It felt so good to get all the salt and sand off.

So we finally made it to the Beach Bar. We were the first ones there as usual. It turned out to be a pretty good group. Ruth brought forum goodies donated by Anthony (thanks Anthony!!) We got to meet pjayer, bayer40601, little ayer, LMG, gymnastika, John Brandi and Sue, and I know there was more. Pjayer, who else was there? This was our group before everyone else started showing up.

It was finally time to head home. So back to the ferry, find the car, drive back to the house, and crash!
Next installment: Sky ride to Paradise Point.

mrscaptjay - I think that's about everyone I met. St. John Ron was there. Gymnastika's son and neice were there. A couple of forumites pm'd me saying they were going to make it, but either they changed plans or we didn't find each other. It was a fun night. The company, music, food, and drinks were excellent. Makes it hard to come home.
